re: Shocking New Evidence on Tylenol and Harm

The prevalence of autism has skyrocketed, how have you missed that?
I didn't miss it. Most people do not have autism, though. If most women take Tylenol during pregnancy and Tylenol consumption during pregnancy causes autism, most people would have autism.

If there’s a casual relationship with Tylenol and autism, and lowering the use drops the prevalence 5-10%, is it worth it? Absolutely.
What is the current recommended usage of Tylenol during pregnancy? I can't imagine any doctor is advising a pregnant woman to take any drug casually. That's my biggest issue with this whole spectacle: the mischaracterization of all aspects. OBGYNs aren't typically advising pregnant women to take medication unnecessarily. This administration is operating as if pregnant women are taking daily doses of Tylenol once they get a positive pregnancy test just for the hell of it. It paints women as careless idiots.

To be clear, while an association between acetaminophen and autism has been described in many studies, a causal relationship has not been established and there are contrary studies in the scientific literature.
He should not have spoke at all yesterday and let the actual experts handle the talking

You’re a lunatic if you think that.
The person who signed the guidance has a Masters of Public Health and an MD. What are your credentials? Which studies have you read?
Incurious minds like welfare queens, for example, who saw some nuanced discussion about when you can and can’t take Tylenol would think it’s fine to take throughout pregnancy. At the very least, after she sees headlines about Trump she’ll now be way more likely to have a conversation with her doctor.

This is an very ignorant statement. Just because something can be harmful doesn't mean it is nearly 100% effective.

Before yesterday’s conference, all woman thought Tylenol was fine to take during pregnancy. They were always told Tylenol was the only safe thing to take
Now they’re on notice that it has some credible risks. And shouldn’t loosely take Tylenol when pregnant . That’s a good thing

For Trump to take that and state over and over and label again “do not take Tylenol” “it’s awful” etc was pure lunacy
He took studies that can’t even produce a casual relationship between Tylenol and autism and made sweeping declarative statements over and over again. He did exactly what covidians did to instill fear to “protect people”. Just give the actual damn facts
He should not have spoke and let the actual doctors handle it

Good medical professionals or consumers who make informed decisions? I see a lack of both.

yeah, that's a major issue. That statement warns pregnant women about Tylenol but doesn’t say what to do if they get a high fever. Untreated fever in pregnancy can definitely cause complications like preterm labor or even harm the baby. Tylenol is the only approved treatment for this indication. Alternatives are more risky. What should women do? Leaving that part out is like telling people not to wear seatbelts because they may cause bruises, without mentioning how to avoid car crash harms.
“Take this if your fever gets over 101, in which case the harm of the fever outweighs potential harm from the Tylenol”
But that would reduce women buying and using it overall, since such high fevers are much less common than the aches and pains usually justifying Tylenol usage.

How are you privy to every conversation between every pregnant woman and their doctors?

Again, why do you think you know what OBGYNs recommend to their patients?

people with excellent clinical skills and epidemiology skills. But you're right - that's the right sort of person you want thinking about policies.

Yes, you did miss it. And your theory is entirely incorrect.

A nurse who works in that area told me.
Keep advocating for autism, sir. Hope you sleep well tonight.
Posted on 9/23/25 at 10:59 am to lsupride87
He said they could take it when absolutely necessary and in consultation with their doctor. As did the medical people.
Pregnant women need to chill on taking tylenol.
You attempted set up a straw man to attack. You failed. Because your perspective is not well founded. Keep supporting autism like you did cloth covid masks. Sleep well.

Your nurse friend apparently wasn't in the examination room during any of my pregnancies because I was given different medical advice.
I sleep as well as anyone with an infant can, sir.
