Will be interesting who steps in to help/negotiate deals. My understanding is they only have millions in reserve for a country of 22 million. My guess is China.

Sri Lanka used to be a major source of jeweler quality rubies, and then the gov't nationalized it requireing all produced to be sold to the government. Production went way down.
I had a friend go there for a month business trip, and he bought me a 4 carat cut ruby from the black market for about 25 % of world wholesale. She still wears the pendant
