Teachers are still working.

Right seems that your kids don’t have the social skills to survive or understand conflict resolution
Maybe you and Karen can post how hard you’ve been working teaching your kids this week. Make sure to wear your mask to show how you’re social distancing

We really need the manual laborers to go back to work so they’ll stop trying to come up with ideas.

Hendo did you guys get shut down yet? We got official word Tuesday that AMI until May 20th on Tuesday. I’m not sure how they’re doing Finals in HS but Sr are done the 7th of May.

A person who does manual labor works a lot harder than a teacher does.

Damn man, read the damn OP. I said at the end of the school year. You're a teacher and can't comprehend that? That's scary.
Smh, are you really this fricking stupid?

been home schooling for 5 years, our kid tests at least 3 grade levels above in every subject. Dont have to worry about the local schools here in NC trying to teach that Jimmy is a girl.
Havent been wearing a mask or social distancing, not worried about this flu.
Maybe there are reasons home school students test better than students in public school taught by teachers who barely know what they are talking about. Hell at my school all you needed to teach was any education degree and be an alumni. My Spanish teacher had a history degree

Stop being angry that you chose the private sector.
Government employees don’t understand that without the private sector, there are no government jobs. Government jobs don’t generate wealth. They are just a redistribution of wealth.

Because teachers choose to receive their salary over 12 months. Some take it over 9, the working months, but most do not. So it's essentially back pay that is owed to them.
Is this a LA option? In MS, we are required to have our pay split over 12 months because too many cannot handle their finances. I wish badly I could get mine over nine months instead and not give the government and school district an interest free loan.

30 students is still only 30 hours, maybe you should be more productive. Im tired of hearing teach complain about not making enough. You knew the pay when you went into the job.
Also think admin who are on 12 month contracts should be reduced in pay as they have less responsibilities right now.
Dumb argument. I chose to teach and coach, and yes, understand the magnitude of the decision and pay scale. But, with that, also understood the benefits and securities it provided. Stop being a little bitch.

Did you notice this "teacher" doesn't know how to use commas ?

God, you have a ton of bad takes.

Ok coach, what are you coaching right now, the ants crawling in the cafeteria? So you should get the extra coach pay that our taxes pay for and not be doing anything?
Also since you CHOSE to do this stop complaining about the pay. I think its crazy public sector employees are getting paid while doing nothing. My mom got two weeks pay for staying at home which is crazy.

At the end of the current school year, why not? If private companies are laying off employees, suspending their pay while their job is shutdown or just flat out laying them off until they are needed again, then why can't the same be said for teachers whose pay comes from the taxpayers? Suspend those summer months paychecks and save our governments a shite ton of money since we are in dire straits economically presently. I'm sure there are many, if not all, state governments whose coffers are being drained because of this virus scenario. Well here's a solution to make it less drained.

Sounds like a crappy school district.
Testing reflects it’s decent, not great . We’re rural so it’s it or nothing.

I need to use formal punctuation on a message board? Ok thank you and I appreciate your concern. I will clean it up for you.

If a teacher is getting payed during the summer it is deferred payment from the prior school year. They can choose to receive their entire salary during the school year or spread it out for 12 months.

Like I said... the money for their paychecks is already allocated out for the school year. No need to go into some principle battle here. I agree with you on that.
But to suggest taking away a few months of pay for teachers because Company ABC is struggling to make payroll isn’t justifiable. Government would just be paying out unemployment anyway.

They dont care about that contract when they strike in the middle of the school year.
Dont worry when tax revenue is lower there will be cuts across the board.

Find one post in my entire history on this site that shows me complaining. Just one.
When it comes to school coaching, our season was in the Fall. Now, we are limited like everything else. We do four sessions of Zoom meetings, construct Dryland workouts, are researching the physiology to determine what is most conducive, and working with people around the nation to plan and determine budgeting, facilities, and training when we do return.
Anything else? Or do you just want to keep bitching?
