We shouldn’t still be losing blood in Afghanistan but if you think we never should’ve been there in the first place you’re a fricking commie. IRAQ was the biggest frick up in US history. No question about it.
The lies that got us into Iraq resulted in a catastrophe twice the size of 9/11 and created ISIS. Say what you want about Saddam Hussein but he never would’ve let ISIS form and he held Iran in check, too.

The same goal as every war. To make money for the MIC and bankers.

Restrepo or Korengal.
Both of these have made a huge impact on me and my views towards the war. Its so depressing that we are still in that shithole 10 years after Restrepo came out.

It's the Forever War. It won't end in any of our lifetimes. The Globalists firmly believe that the region needs permanent policing. The US military is the Global Police Force and the US taxpayer funds that police force, so, that's where we are.

That was done in December 2001, then in 2002 it became find Bin Laden, then in 2011 it became dEmoCRaCy, now in 2020 it's MAKE BUTTSTUFF MANDATORY EVERYWHERE

Anyone that thinks that Afghanistan has even close to the controversy that Vietnam has is ignorant.
It is not an either/or equation.
Rightly or wrongly — Vietnam could at least conceivably be justified on the Cold War domino theory. Yet Afghanistan has been built on lies from the get-go.
To even call Afghanistan a nation — in the modern sense of the term — is a damn lie. It is a medieval tribal society defined primarily by it’s geographical borders.
The same tribal chieftains who have controlled the country for millennia will still control it when the last American boot leaves the country. We know it and they know it.
The most likely reason we are still occupying that shithole is because our corrupt national security apparatus is funding off-budget shadow ops with profits derived from the global narcotics trade. Putting that sinister possibility aside, this is a fact: the Taliban was based on the remnants of the Mujahideen which was itself a partial creation of the CIA.
Indeed, Osama bin Laden himself had once been an American intelligence asset. It is a pattern we have seen again and again: many of the terror organization our troops battle on the field — such as Al Qaeda and ISIS — are used by our national security apparatus to rat trap us into permanent occupation of these third world hellholes.
The permanent occupation of Afghanistan is based on one lie stacked upon another. This headline from Syria succinctly sums up the insanity that underlines these endless wars of permanent occupation:

We create our own worst enemies. Manuel Noriega also comes to mind.
