U.S. citizens are detained and questioned every day in the course of law enforcement investigations. As long as there is reasonable suspicion, probable cause, and/or the officer's safety is in question (which protestors have pretty much ensured), it's perfectly legal.

You're not under the impression that—other than entering homes without a warrant—ICE is doing something that hasn't been done every day across America for 100 years or more, are you?
As far as the warrantless entry I agree with you that it violates the spirit of the 4th amendment and whatever ruling has enabled it should be overturned, but until it is, even that is legal.
Those of you who say, "well, it's not what they're doing, it's HOW they are doing it," what wold you do if finding illegal people hiding from you was your job? How would you go about it?
It seems to me they re doing exactly what law enforcement has always done when searching for known fugitives. I don't really see anything but the already mentioned exception that is different. And I can't imagine what else they might do instead. Can you?
