and the other cell phone evidence that hasn't been released shows Arbery attacking - according to Georgia law that constitutes self-defense.

I'm certainly no expert in Georgia law, but this doesn't seem right. Not for Georgia or anywhere else really. Not merely charging and attacking with hands only anyway. If that were the case then every non-aggressor in your routine fist fight would have legal authority to pull out a gun and blast away.

Incidentally, I believe the two were charging each other and the son was very surprised and frightened that the runner wasn't simply going to yield.

What are you going to charge the cell phone man with?

I honestly don’t know how you see that in the video. Seems pretty clear to me that they didn’t have guns pointed at him

Huh? Deceased literally directly engages him. He curves around the front of the truck to go for shotgun guy. There's literally no other way to see that element.

It could be a reasonable assumption that if he was being chased by a truck and men with guns their intent was to harm him and he had a choice of fight or flight and chose to disarm the man threating him with a gun because he would run a bigger risk of death by turning his back.

Putting myself in his position I might try to use the element of surprise and disarm the closest threat and maybe use him to shield me. I likely would die, but that's the calculated risk.

i'm not a GA attorney and haven't read their caselaw, but within immediate knowledge means that you, effectively, be presented showing you a crime has been committed (with a pretty great certainty), within a very short timeframe of the alleged crime

The dad is tracking him as he runs around the truck.

Doesn’t matter, holding your gun, chasing a person, while angrily yelling at them is a crime..a serious one. Shooting a person who is in fear of their life, because you are chasing them, holding a gun, yelling at them is an even more serious crime.

But the son had a shotgun in his hands....that cannot be construed any other way than overtly threatening.

Don’t try to get all careful with words now. You claimed Ahmaud ran through his high school with a gun.

Oh excuse me. "Took a gun to school and then ran from the police." Huge difference there.

elbow out is the classic gun posture

plus SOMEBODY had to shoot the first shot. the son would have had to shoot through the truck from his hip, basically

Did you read a police report on that case? All I saw was that he brought a gun to school.

The first shot only came after ahmaud charged at, engaged with, and tried to take the gun from the man on the street.

He was 19 and brought a gun to a high school he didn’t attend and fled when the police tried to stop him. Was eventually caught in parking lot I think it was a .380.
