Per texas election judges, they have less machines per as the machines must be 6 feet apart.

Kinda my thoughts as well. The folks that are voting on the 1st day of early voting are like the "Apple people" when a new iPhone comes out; gotta go there on day 1.

There is 100% more early turnout In my county. I pass by the early polling place daily and every time I pass by it’s wrapped around the building.
Last year for both my wife and myself it took minutes to vote.

Probably corona virus protocols at the polling place slowing everything down to a crawl

Probably the case for many places.

When I went, I stood in a "long" line outside before standing in a shorter line inside. They're smartly trying to keep the indoor waiting down.

More mail in? Can that be the reason?

Definitely a surge in my county. As of Monday there were 141k early votes. 2016 had 267k total votes. So we're already at 53% of the total vote in 2016. I know the population has increased, but that is most definitely a surge.

Social distancing and technology does not always make things faster.
My personal experience.

Wife and went to early vote in Gwinnett County, Georgia, last Friday afternoon. We got in line about 4:45. We walked out at about 5:40.

Line wasn't too bad, but it was socially distanced. They only had maybe 10 voting machines, so that cycled through somewhat slowly. Then you had to print out your ballot, and take it to one of four ballot scanner.

The media want you to think millions are running to the pools to vote Trump out. Turnout will be low. Bad for dems.

I mean, this is still pretty far out from the election. If we’re at 21.6% now, there seems to be a very high degree of probability that we exceed that 40.8 number in the next 2 weeks.

not really. you start to see diminishing returns rather quickly when it comes to voter turnout.

turnout on day 3 aint shite like day 1, day 7 aint shite like day 3, etc before ramping back up the last day or two.

Does that include mail-in voting or did any of the 2016 numbers count as early voting?

There will likely be more votes this year, but you cannot compare the early voting and mail in to previous years unless you can tell me, specifically, how many of that 267k asked for and returned mail in ballots.

This year cannot be compared to any previous years.
