Trump has been slaughtering this field since his announcement

This is not true. In fact at one point he was losing to Desantis.
Here are some things I took 2 seconds to find.
on March 25, just 10 days before the Alvin Bragg indictment and when rumors really started to roll out big time, Trump's RCP polling average was:
44.3% (only 12 points separated him from Desantis at this point, after weeks of indictment rumors)
On April 10, 6 days after the indictment, it goes up to:
54% (and gets as high as 56.3%
On May 31st it had steadily declined to 53%
On June 9th he is indicted in the MAL case, and the next day, his RCP average jumps from the 53% to:
55.3%
On July 23rd, it had fallen again down to 51%:
As of today, it has shot back up to:
53.9%
Clear correlation between his polling numbers and indictments

So you are saying charges against Trump are helping ensure he’ll be the nominee??
Unless DeSantis, or someone else, gets their act together. Step 1: Go after Jack Smith ... HARD!
Step 2: Go after Merrick Garland ... HARD!
RDD apparently thinks his route to the nomination is to let Trump fight that battle. Under those politically inastute circumstances, Trump runs away with it.
RDS talks about Trump almost every day and how he is being wrongly prosecuted. He talks about one standard of justice, holding people accountable, and has all but said he will pardon Trump. Unless your definition is that he drops out and endorses Trump while giving him all of his money or acts like Vivek and clearly be running for VP I don't know what you are looking for.
Fortunately these races haven't even started yet in spite of what Trump wants you to think. The obsession with the national polls is just very misguided, I don't know how many times that has to be said. This is a state by state race and ground game is key. I'm guessing those national polls are lucky to have anymore than a handful of folks surveyed in Iowa and NH and even fewer that are serious caucus goers.

Wasn't his energy plan Drill Baby Drill. /END/APPLAUSE There was probably some side shekels for Jared in the fine print but otherwise that was the extent. A mornoic punch line.
I wish it was drill drill drill and not buy buy buy from the saudis at a price that drive 600+ US energy companies out of business and cost investors billions of $$$$. But at least the gas was cheap for a while.

LOL ... yeh boy... that is who we need in the White House ... reminds me of somebody else... oh, the guy in the White House now.

He just seems like he doesn’t know his own policy more than anything

This isn't even arguable at this point. And on multiple occasions some of the most loyal Trump supporters on the board have said exactly that; every time he's indicted his lead grows. They just don't like the obvious implications.

It seems that way, I am on the train, but i want to win.

Again, I'm not getting into the to-and-fro between the RDD and DJT camps. I'd vote for either in a heartbeat. I'd have been quite satisfied if DeSantis had roared past Trump in the polls. But he hasn't.
There is one, and only one, way for him to play the DOJ bullshite, and that is for him to eviscerate Smith and Garland as the poisonous POS's they are.
He isn't doing it.
We can all speculate as to why, but sans that, this race is over. You can blame the result on anything you'd like, but it is RDD's choice. He seems to have chosen poorly.

He has eviscerated the DOJ multiple times.

I’m a trump fan but That wasn’t well thought out for sure. Makes me appreciate him talking off the cuff even more. Now if he doesn’t remedy that stance and policy that will be a disgrace.

I'm a trump fan but that was really really bad. If Ron wipes the floor with the debates then we can talk. I just dont know if he has enough Republican support to beat trump.

We will never talk then, because Don will not show up for a debate with Ron. He will dodge.

Trump isn't a policy wonk. More of a say what he thinks the people want to hear kind of guy.
"What do you mean she'd be sentenced to death?"

Thats why Ron needs to wipe the floor with everyone else at the debate and do it convincingly. Eventually Trump will have to debate. He may skip the first one but he can't skip all of them.
