Romney is cut from the John McCain cloth: if I didn’t get to be a Republican President after spending my whole life in the game, then why should this outsider?

If a President gets impeached, can he still run again?
If he is removed by the Senate I don't believe he can run.
If it looks like the snakes have the votes to remove him he should just resign and run as Libertarian candidate.
On ballot in all 50 states and they would love the money he'd raise.
He couldn't get 270 electoral votes but he could win some and prevent anyone from getting 270.
In that case the House picks the President. Likely the Dem but the Senate votes for the VP.
Would be crazy.

That is possibly the worst thing he could do.....the other side would state he admitted guilt by resigning. We would be finished...

With the exception of Reagan and Newt, "establishment" Republicans have been more than happy to be in the minority. They hate governing. They would rather just whine and bitch from the sidelines, but be patted on the head and lauded by the DC press corps because they are harmless.
I agree.
Then they could clack and whine with..."See?? Thats why we can't ever have another Trump...he cost us the Senate, the House and the WH!!. It's people like him that don't know how Washington is supposed to work!!"

But, the conservative voters would never believe them again.. There would not be rioting in the streets or marches....just apathy.
The red states will become VERY red and slowly and inexorably start the process to separate from the USA.

The GOP may just try to remove him from office. Things like derailing the TPP, deporting illegals, and tariffs cut at the heart of the few things GOP senators care about.

And during that short lull the "Fundamental Transformation of the United States of America" would be completed by neo-comm leftists.

I don't think Scott would vote to remove. He campaigned on the platform of supporting the Trump agenda. Florida may be a swing state but the GOP voters there are pretty solid ones and he would be a one-term Senator if he did that.
Also for an earlier post, Cornyn votes with Trump most of the time and hasn't said anything bad like Delecto has, so I don't think he would vote to remove either.

I thought he meant Scott from Florida.
Though I don't see the SC Scott doing it either.

Tim Scott is a cuck who got elected because he's black and claims to be conservative.

What’s scary is they are whipping up votes without any evidence being presented, basically showing that it’s politically motivated.
No one should say theyre for removal until a trial is held and evidence is presented.

I am not enraged because I would enjoy seeing live on TV the self-immolation of The Republican Party of the USA. I would find it comical.
I find that the Republican Party has out-lived its usefulness.

Same. Trump needs to win re-election then quit the GOP and form the American Nationalist Party

Why is Romney such a douche? What is he trying to cover up?
Posted on 10/24/19 at 4:49 pm to Quidam65
Don’t count on any republican senator elected in 2018 to stand by Trump. They will never be on the same ticket as him again and 2024 is a long arse ways away in political terms
Posted on 10/24/19 at 4:56 pm to airlinehwypanhandler
Wasn't lack of support for Trump a or the main factor in a number of incumbent Republicans' ousting in 2018? Certainly this would be a consideration in the thinking of Republican Senators.

I agree completely.
If Trump is removed and the Republicans nominate Pence or Cruz are all the pissed off people going to vote for Elizabeth Warren or Hillary Clinton?
Or will we not vote and just surrender to Warren or Clinton or whoever?
Reality is, if Trump is removed in January we will have a pretty conventional election come November 2020 with a few spicy Trump tweets.
People will support, donate and vote for whoever the Republicans nominate as long as it's not Romney or Jeb Bush.

Perhaps. But with the GOP having proven itself as an ineffective vehicle to stop that, so it goes.
