"now happening". Not sure if it's new, really. But yes- creepy. I recall years ago articles about people freezing limbs in ice to force an amputation. Also, some lady securing an operation to frickING MAKE HER PARAPLEGIC. She was enamored with the notion of rejecting her legs and being dependent on others, to some extent. OMG. Most of us have some "deviant" fantasies, but that is taking it too far.
