re: Trump delays tariffs on upholstery, furniture, and kitchen cabinets by a year

We have currently very few domestic cabinet makers due to foreign dumping. Fox Business did a segment on one located in Alabama that was able to stay open after Trump’s enacted tariffs to stop foreign dumping of cabinets from China into our market. The problem is that there is an actual need for new housing in many parts of the country so our domestic industry isn’t equipped to readily fill that demand. A short pause allows time for new domestic capacity to come on board.
I know TDS sufferers and Cabin Fund investors won’t understand and that’s cool.

No one’s going to build factories with this kind of delay

I can’t wait to read the responses to this.
They're all very predictable. Trump does something to lower prices and the TDS crew turn it into an attack on Trump supporters. The losers can never just be happy even when they are getting what they want.
Corporations have admitted that they were eating the tariffs so when people pretend it never happened, they come across as dishonest in addition to miserable. When they tried to tell us the tariffs would be charged on the retail price, you knew they didn't know what they were talking about, either.

I learned on this board that tariffs dont affect prices, were they wrong?
They have. Anyone saying they haven’t is lying.
That said, they also haven’t been affected to the extent people pretend they have been. Some act like they’re on the verge of bankruptcy if they buy a steak.
