The interesting thing about Trump was that he kind of reversed Nixon's China strategy. Nixon realized that it would benefit the US if he drove a wedge between China and the USSR by opening up trade with China. Once China overtook Russia in terms of global influence, it makes sense to turn the tables and court Putin.
What doesn't make sense is alienating both China and Russia, essentially forcing them into a partnership in opposition to US interests as the current administration seems to be doing - whether intentionally or not.

Why can't adults understand that you are not going to find some perfect unicorn that checks every box you want in every aspect of a leader, and just understand that some flawed people are able to do things better than other flawed people -- recognizing that ALL will be flawed people in some manner?

Whatever bud, considering there were no new wars, the economy was rocking, gas and groceries were affordable and we as a country had regained respect after apology tour Obama I would gladly take the orange oom pa loompa, as you call him, back in a heartbeat
