Compare it to how he goes after conservatives that dare to question him.

Ignoring Mamdani would actually go further to "legitimize" him if you think about it...

Absolutely. Look at Fidel Castro. We ignored him and stonewalled him and he was one of the longest lasting leaders in the world.

By meeting with Mamdani, Trump is telling him "the deep state has a chair for you right over there, now go sit in it".

I'm looking forward to him trying to run off all capable people.

NYC will look third world if he gets his way. I'm looking forward to it.

This could be a step towards Mamdani moderating.

Mamdani now says he is pro-police, pro following local, state, and federal laws and looks forward to stamping out antisemitism from the 5 burreauxs.

What a turnaround.

Ignored him? That’s fricking hysterical. We tried overthrowing and killing him1000 times and it made him stronger.

This is true. I wonder if DJT told him what he is guilty of already, what can happen to him, what he will do, and not do, and then they rehearsed the brotherhood act at the presser.

No he is not. The voters in NYC legitimized him. Trump is not asking the commie for tips on how we should become China. Trump is doing his job. Talking to scum is part of Trumps job. You can't influence people to do what you want by just ignoring them.

I get what Trump is doing and I’m dumb for not seeing it coming. He can be very congenial with opponents when he sees it as strategically necessary, and then bring hammer later when needed.

But it is hard to stomach some of the compliments and niceties he is laying on this snake. When the journo put ZM on the spot about calling Trump a fascist, it was tough watching DJT let him off the hook and say it’s okay. I’ve always wished Trump would publicly defend himself against this insanity with a history lesson.

Maybe it’s just the fact that ZM represents what would realistically be the downfall of our country if those with his beliefs eventually gain enough power. It’s tough seeing any other response to it besides going on the attack. I’m definitely no politician.

because in contrary what Twitter thinks, Mamdani doesnt have the authority to pass any new taxes or his affordability policies without going through the Gov and the NY state.

He has to play nice with the lobbyists connected to banks and Wall Street to do anything.

LINK

Zohran Mamdani says voters gave him a mandate to move ahead on his democratic socialist agenda when he becomes mayor of New York. But in tying his success to a specific list of proposals, Mr. Mamdani may have set himself a political trap. He has given Gov. Kathy Hochul an opening to resist plans, even popular ones, that risk harming the state’s economy and budget.

He needs approval from the State Legislature for most of what he has promised to do, and Ms. Hochul is already making clear that Mr. Mamdani cannot pre-empt the state’s sovereign powers over New York City. If she remains firm, she can demonstrate how Democrats wary of Mr. Mamdani’s populist brand of socialism can push back against it.

Few of Mr. Mamdani’s major campaign pledges can be fulfilled by municipal government alone. One is opening city-run grocery stores. But an independent city board will determine whether he can make good on his vow to freeze the rent on the city’s nearly one million regulated apartments for the four years of his term.

Similarly, Mr. Mamdani has no power to carry out his proposal to raise $9 billion annually by increasing taxes on corporations and the rich to finance universal child care and other programs, nor to make all city buses free. The governor and the Legislature, as well as the independent board that governs the state-funded transit authority, determine such policies. Ms. Hochul has said since the election that she is disinclined to raise taxes on the rich or to eliminate bus fares.

Trump supported Obama. Did you notice?

Seriously, you didn't expect this? Trump reaches out to people like that because he knows he can get a moment in front of the media where he will seem like a strong, confident, and benevolent leader.

This is Town Hall Trump.

Let him govern or rule or whatever he is going to do and see how NY is doing. Let's not hyperventilate yet.

Trump does a lot of crazy stuff but I have always thought that his willingness to talk to pretty much anyone is a good thing.
