Well, for one thing, you, like Obama, have turned from a relative pacifist who opposes American intervention abroad (am I wrong on that too?) but has, as the Constitutional transfer of power approaches, have turned into a wild-eyed scary warmonger?

How am I calling for war? You are projecting so much into your lack of reading comprehension it is scary. I don't want war with Russia. I also don't want them interfering with our elections in any way. Do I know that Obama placing some meaningless sanctions on Russia is the answer? No. It is probably worthless. But, do I want the President-Elect praising Putin when our current President is condemning him? No. That is stupid.

What's the deal? What cross do you bear that forms your massive chip on the shoulder?

I think that Trump is ultimately a massive conman who is manipulating the American people for his own gain.

quote:

when you wrote "nativist" I knew there was something anti-American lurking underneath.

There is noting anti-American lurking within me, I can assure you. But, I do reject the view that is emerging that doesn't seem to understand America's preeminence in the world in the post-WW2 order. Obama rejected it and Trump does too, apparently, as he is willing to acquiesce to Russia when it suits him.

I am not opposed to American intervention. I am opposed to us trying to reset the Middle East in our own image when Islam will not allow for peaceful democracy. Obama was naive. Trump is prideful. Both are wrong.

The latter stages of the Obama administration resemble what I figure Richard Nixon would've been like, had Barry Goldwater and other Congressional Republicans not walked down Pennsylvania Avenue and told him, "You're on your own, Dick."

The level of criminality, the desperation to salvage your reputation by any means necessary, the use of American intelligence agencies to sabotage law and order and dupe the American public, the pettiness... the lies. Swinging the wrecking ball with every possible chance.

Do you agree with this? Let's hear you criticize Obama.

You're a joke.

I don't run to the poli-board to express every opinion I have to make sure I keep my conservative cred up for you.

Whatever, man. I oppose what he did just like I opposed Fast and Furious, the IRS attacks on conservatives, the Benghazi gun running to Syrian rebels, and a million other things. I don't post every thought that enters my head. I don't try to prove anything here.

I'm not sure what is funny about this. How is Trump not making the United States a vassal state of Russia? Have we EVER seen an incoming president visibly and publicly attack the current president by siding with a foreign dictator against him? Ever? This is a pure "cuck" move on the part of Trump toward Russia and you people are eating it up. You've lost your minds.

Yeah. These people think they're being red blooded American too.

You are vainglorious and this has reduced your analysis to reactionary anti-Trump melt downs. If you are in fact a Conservative (WFB Jr, Russell Kirk,Ronald Reagan et al) you should get down on your hands and knees and thank God that despite your best efforts and consistent shite-baggery the USA was able to avoid disaster and that better days are ahead. To call yourself a Conservative and be in a perma-melt about Donald Trump three weeks before he is sworn in takes a special kind of cluelessness.

Look how Obama is acting. He's like a kid who didn't get his way so he's taking all his toys and going home.

I've criticized Obama multiple times this week and in this very thread. Again, I don't work for you and don't have to prove anything to you.

Who do you think you are?

Honestly, I quit listening to Obama or paying attention to him years ago. Everything he says and does is false on some level. I don't obsess over it anymore and after America stupidly chose to reelect him in 2012, I pretty much lost interest in following his every move.

But, Trump's tweets are also stupid.

Man, I hate what this board has become.

Good God, man, it was thinking like this that got us in the Vietnam War. You either stood with ole Lyndon and agreed the Commie bastards fired upon an American warship in the Gulf of Tonkin, or you too were a Commie bastard.

It was greatly overblown for political reasons.

Now, explain YOUR viewpoint on American preeminence in the world in the post-WWII era. Your nativist comment gives clues, and it is highly offensive to my patriotic sensibilities.

No.

Let's review the statement:
"Great move on delay (by V. Putin) - I always knew he was very smart!"

Translation: Putin chose not to retaliate or escalate discord with the US. You think that was stupid? You think that was a bad move?

I'm honestly asking.

Keep fighting the good fight AlaTiger... it's reassuring that some conservatives see Trump for exactly what he is. The consequences of his presidency are looking worse and worse by the day and I want Trump to do a good job.

Honestly, pimp, that describes you pretty well. You went from being a good poster with unique takes to becoming a caricature of yourself as you try to be clever over and over again. Sometimes you still hit the mark and I enjoy your commentary, but lately you have become a shadow of what you once were. I'm pulling for you to get back to form.

I've actually made quite a few comments since the election that were complimentary of Trump when he said/did good things. I imagine that I will keep calling him out when he screws up and praising him when he does well. It seems like a good approach.

That is exactly the kind of conservative that I am. And, I am very thankful that Hillary didn't win. That is the one bright shining lining in this whole thing. We get to wake up each morning without Hillary Clinton as president. I will be forever grateful to Trump for that, even while I think he was also a horrible choice for president.

But, I don't think that my "best efforts" matter one way or another. Nor do yours. We're commenting on a message board.

Conservatism is dead and Trump is no conservative. I'm not in "permamelt" over Trump. I think he is wrong about a lot of things. I comment on that. I refuse to just bow the knee. I am not going to line up and just join the camp. That doesn't mean that I like Obama's way either. It is possible to have an independent thought or two and not be a lackey. You used to be that way. Now you just shill for whoever isn't a Democrat without calling for anything better. It's a shame.

I can't wait because so far it has all been awesome.

I have a prediction for you.

In four short years Trump will win re-election by a margin not see since Reagan beat Carter in 1980.
He might even approach the level of Reagan vs Mondale.

I think it was a bad move and utterly stupid to publicly throw in with a foreign dictator who is trying to screw the U.S. every chance he gets. Putin is not our friend. Publicly pretending like he is is a mistake that sends mixed messages to our actual friends and does nothing to neuter him. It only emboldens him. We don't need Russia to act on our behalf. We are not that weak. There is no reason for Trump to say anything at all. His big mouth is what does him in and he won't learn.

No restraint. No wisdom.

It's a shame that a lot of Americans with your same view exist. I am not talking about someone who supports Trump. I am talking about someone who not only supports but gets off on the division of our country
