You do realize that a company's valuation doesn't equal liquid cash right? Right?
Apple could certainly pull the cash together but it would leave a dent. Judging by trends from previous years, they have about $150 billion in cash and investments. They'd be pulling money from research and acquisitions of technology they need.
Not to mention paying the 17 billion dollar fine opens up other countries levying similar extortions.

They buy back more stock than the amount of the fine per quarter.

Please, no one embarrass themselves further and do their own little "weave" about how I'm condemning stock buybacks like Bernie or whoever. Because I'm not. I'm also not opining on the merits of the fine.

I don't think they do. I think they are in save their own arse mode. This time Trump is coming, but he's not coming alone. He's got a whole stable coming with him. I truly believe heads are gonna roll, and this administration will be "transformative."

Or maybe Ireland where you set up that sweet offshore corp so you can fck the US out of taxes.
Or maybe dip into that 250 billion slush fund you collected due to afrementioned and manage the fund in the US while it remains "offshore".
