• Post-1979: The US let the hated Shah into America for medical treatment ? Iranian students seized the US embassy (444-day hostage crisis).
• Iran-Iraq War (1980s): US tilted toward Iraq (which invaded Iran) and accidentally shot down an Iranian civilian plane.
• Ever since: Heavy US sanctions that crush Iran’s economy.
These events are taught as proof America always meddles for oil and control.
3. Israel (“Little Satan”) + regional power
Iran sees the US as Israel’s protector and the force blocking Iran’s dream of dominating the Middle East as the leader of “resistance” (Shia Islam vs. the West + Sunni rivals). They fund proxies (Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis) to attack US bases, Israel, and shipping to bleed American power without direct war.
4. It keeps the regime alive at home
Blaming America for everything (poverty, protests, sanctions) distracts from the regime’s own failures: corruption, repression, economic collapse. It rallies their hardliner base and justifies cracking down on reformers. Without the “external enemy,” their rule looks even weaker.
Key reality check
• Ordinary Iranians mostly don’t hate America. Polls inside Iran show ~80% would vote against the Islamic Republic in a free election. Many disagree with “Death to America” chants, like US culture, and want normal relations or even negotiations with the US. ? The hate is regime propaganda.
• Iran attacks US interests asymmetrically (proxies, drones, cyber) because they can’t win a real war. Their goal is survival + exporting their revolution, not conquering America.
In short: The regime needs America as its eternal villain to justify its existence and ideology. “Destroy America” = destroy US power in the region so the mullahs can rule unchallenged. The American people? Not the target—it’s all about the government and its policies.

Do you think the whole ford into place is important but also not 100% needed? Can pop off before hand with Iran thinking there is time left before Ford is in place

Yes it is needed. The Ford's strike group is not just the Ford. It is also brings with it lots of air defense systems that are going to be needed to protect Israel.
