Not shocking some Saudi's feel that way about Iran. Their whole economy depends on the gulf region being stable and Iran is a big threat to that stability.

Since it’s kind of a big deal to launch a massive lethal military operation with the potential to destabilize the world’s oil market and kill many thousands of people, I think we should be okay with exploring every avenue of diplomacy before pulling the trigger

At this point (with no facts to back me up but rather just good faith and hope), I’m going to presume this is posturing and no “deal” is really in the works.
I would be genuinely disappointed / disgusted if all that ultimately came of this was a deal struck with the mullahs.
They have shown time and time again for decades now that they cannot be trusted.
This would be kicking the can down the road for a problem that will ultimately have to be dealt with sooner or later.
And later may mean dealing with it on their terms instead of ours.
