From my perspective there are reasons for all of this. There are several "isms" that started decades or even over a hundred years ago, but which have now seeped into everyday life rather than just being the lube for mental masturbation in the Ivory Towers of academia.
Feminism has destroyed the nuclear family and obvious biologically influenced gender roles.
Post-modernism has convinced people that they actually have a "truth" of their own and it is whatever they say it is.
Populism has led people to abandon any foundational principes that protect citizens from government or each other. Populism = the Law of the Jungle...Us vs Them. Whichever tribe you identify with is US and everybody else is Them.
All three of these philosophies are self-contradictory, but people don't notice because post-modernism in particular has taught people that logic is of no consequence. Only what they feel.

Populism (plus the other two) will bring this country down. It might happen with this generation or it might take one or two more. But populism is the end of the line. You can already see it happening in the UK (who usually runs over the cliff at a pace of approximately 12-15 years ahead of us).

The left has been dominated by populism for decades. But now the right has succumbed to populism in America.
There are no more adults in the room. No one is holding the line anymore.
Notice how many populists here act like the Constitution is nothing more than an annoying nuisance that sometimes gets in the way of what Trump wants to do. That's the formula. "We need to set aside the Constitution for the greater good," rinse, repeat, until it's been permanently set aside. We will end up just like the UK, with the 1st Amendment being tossed aside probably first. Then maybe the 4th and 5th. Etc.
The difference between is and the UK is that we have over 300 million guns here. So when it sure 'nuff gets to the point that Us & Them is all that is left, we'll have us a violent chaos on our hands that they can only imagine.

Democrats are promoting rape and child porn while conservatives fight among ourselves about who is the most ideologically pure.
Can we stop the infighting over every little thing this administration does and focus on the real enemy for once?

I think populism blinds everyone to the consequences of their own shortsighted populist agendas and each populist tribe thinks the other hopes and strives for the ruination of the country.
And, the left has been given in to populism for a lot longer than the right.

That's the thing. Elevating the president over the Constitution is only "every little thing" in the mind of a populist.
"The real enemy" is Big Government and the erosion of citizen's protections against it. The foundation of law in this country.
You guys will eventually understand this. But by then it will be too late.

"The Left" without government enforcing their agenda has never taken anyone's guns away, has never put anyone in prison for speech before, has never sent anyone to a gulag, has never held public executions for people who spoke out against it, has never institutionally suppressed the expression of religion, has never enslaved anyone, etc., etc.
That's never happened.
WITH government enforcing their agenda, they've done all of those things and more.
Hopefully, y'all's feeble brains can understand that at some point. Every time you cheer for the erosion of the Constitution or Separation of Powers or some precedent that expands government intrusion in the lives of citizens because TODAY it help you "own the left," you are throwing a boomerang that will absolutely come back to hit you in the behind, with exactly the equal and opposite force that you originally hurled it out with.
So instead of throwing harder, a smart person would instead reduce the power of government, since the weaker it gets, the less able the left will be able to use it against you. You can oppose the left. Oppose them, hate them, whatever you want. I don't care. But they can't hurt you without government.
But populists aren't smart people.
