The whole "coach" moniker is stupid anyway. If he once coached high school football, then became governor, the only people who should still call him "coach" are his former players. It's not like he was Bear fricking Bryant.

When I coached , if I was an asst. Coach the players, parents of the players all called me coach. But if I was introducing myself to somebody new, I told them I was the asst coach

A lot of high school assistant coaches are primarily teachers and help with sports. Sometimes they get a stipend.

And most aren't referred to as "coach" after they move on.

Hell, I've coached football in high school and was a GA in college. After moving on to my real career, I would be like WTF if someone called me Coach.

I believe the story is the 1995 drunk driving arrest (he also lied about) made it impossible for him t be "coach" assistant or not for the team. But we have known this for weeks as most of his claims about military, teaching, coaching sexual preference have all been misleading, exaggerations or flat out lies.

Well yeah, obviously. They are trying to make him appeal to a different segment of the country.

I agree in theory but didn’t he try and claim he took the team to state title?

Yeah, that’s the story. So roast him on embellishing that. Why in the world would you try to pretend an assistant coach doesn’t get called “Coach” by every athlete in America?

That’s a pretty dumb argument, tbh. Every assistant coach I ever had, at every level, is still referred to by me as “Coach.” Go after his embellishment & pretending he was the head coach. That’ll stick with the Stolen Valor issues. Nobody who has ever played a sport thinks calling him on calling himself “Coach” makes any sense.

It’s a very dumb argument.

The head coach, the offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, offensive line coach, a volunteer assistant and so forth is A COACH.

It’s certainly not a “Cause you’d be in jail” moment for Trump but the more I think about it the more imo think the point is to paint him as not being Head Coach material and was just an assistant coach.
But obviously with the forthcoming RFK drop clearly this wasn’t intended to be significant.

I dont really care that his was a coach or..an asst coach. His trying to dunk on Tuberville though...was like me literally trying to dunk on Mutombo ..an epic fail

Not this dumb argument again. Now Trump is the dumb arse posting it. Any teacher that helped with athletics was referred to as coach.

Should have phrased it differently. "He as an assistant coach, not the head coach that he wants you to assume." That would fit his stolen valor mode on leading to a state championship.

Not calling out anyone specifically, but it appears that as per usual many folks are sharing their viewpoints without having full command of the necessary context.

The left has given the guy the nickname “Coach Walz”. The hard working man “who turned an 0-27 team into state champs.” A “champion high school football coaching career.” Trump was “live posting” during Harris’ speech and “fact checking” them on various topics and matters, as they themselves are so fond of doing. It was a completely fair criticism of blatant puffery and deception by the left for political gain.

Pretty sure he was only a volunteer assistant. He wasn't even a real asst. coach.

Why is Harris campaign desperately referring to him as a coach when he was that for only about 6 years as an assistant? He has more experience as a soldier in the military, and a politician rising up to being a Governor of a state, but let's focus on his coaching job from 25 years ago.
At Trump's next rally he should ask if there are any coaches in the crowd. Then bring one up and say,.congratulations, your now my ceremonial VP.
