Why would we attack Iran?

I’m extremely pro military but I do not understand this one bit.

This is simply inaccurate. Trump has completely passed that relationship off to the ambassador.

I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt about your imbecile post.

Nah, that RFK guy’s just yapping—probably jealous or misreading the tea leaves. From what I dug up, he’s the one saying Trump “passed off” the Meloni thing to some ambassador, like it’s over. But look: just last week, Italy’s jumping into Trump’s weird “Board of Peace” as an observer—Meloni’s literally signing up while the rest of Europe sulks. And these pics? They’re from October twenty-five, but the vibe’s still fresh—handshakes, smiles, her whispering in his ear like they’re plotting world domination:

I assumed it was so as to not have the built in targets of the Olympic venues out there for Iran to bomb…

I can't think of a faster way to turn the entire world against you than to intentionally target Olympic venues with no military value. It would be completely suicidal.

Why would we strike Iran?

It certainly seems that we’re posturing in that direction, but it makes no sense to me.

ETA: I also don’t give a fricking shite about the Iranian people. Or the people of any other country in that terrible hellhole part of the world.

Under no circumstances did Iran have the capability to bomb anything in Italy

The Olympics used to be a big deal. At least a lot bigger deal then it is now. Maybe the Summer Games just gets more hype.

the freaking winter olympics is a dumb af reason to postpone military action. just sayin

I oppose military action against Iran, but no that’s not a dumb reason.

We’d be using Italian territory to do so.

No, running a military operation out of a nation that’s currently hosting one of the most prominent diplomatic events possible is not ideal for said nation.

Italy "had our backs"? They are the worst (or second/third worst just ahead of Greece/Portugal) spenders on the military in NATO. Something in the one percent range while countries like Poland spend about four or five of GDP on defense. Unless they have a lot of AISE agents in Iran that are telling us important things not sure how they can really help.

Not surprised UK and France isn't helping - my guess it is due to all the Muslims from Iran who live in those two countries. Could be wrong.

Primarily, because they've killed tens of thousands of their own citizens.

Secondary, they have killed a lot of Americans over the years. Mostly by bombs throughout the war in Iraq.

Third, not only do they fund military groups in yemen and lebanon, they are the last lifeline for Hamas.

An open and growing Iran is a top 10 economy in the world within 10 years if the Iranians can finish the job.

Yeah? So what? You’d have to be exceptionally Naive to not think that this kind of thing happens all the time between World leaders.

Sure they do.

They don’t have to fly jets to Italy to attack targets, they can use car bombs, suicide vests, or drones.

That is a stupid statement to make.

You don't have to volunteer to come to their aid - but to 'not care' ??? - that is just heartless - or worse, in sympathy with the Muslim hellhole.

The Iranian people are in no way responsible for the shite they have had to endure for the past half century. They could become a valuable ally in that part of the world.

When the Political elites and their families are being raped and stabbed and say, "OK, we were wrong. come rid us of the raping muzzies", the first question should be "What does this job pay?"

Then there will be no questions asked about how your country gets restored.

Melania will look great wearing the Crown Jewels.

Witkoff and Kushner asked POTUS Trump to hold until after the Thursday meeting with Iran regarding a deal they are trying to make to prevent the use of force. But then again, you typically do not send that much force forward simply to negotiate.

A small anecdote re our naval fleet:

I was in San Diego a couple of weeks ago. I toured the USS Midway which is near the Navy base in SD. I asked one of the veterans on board the Midway about how impressive it was to see our Navy fleet in the harbor ready to go, and he said a year ago there were twice as many boats in harbor. He said once Trump was elected they almost immediately left port and headed out to sea.
