Washington nursing home caused this entire panic and jacked up the death rate.

There will be more of those, unfortunately. Probably not on that scale (hopefully). A nursing home in DuPage, IL has at least 22 residents infected.

Talk to the billions outside of southeast Asia who are still employed. It makes no difference how you try to scam the numbers, you come out looking foolish.

You’re arguing stupid points again today. This seems to be your own internal pandemic of stupidity.

Good to know.

Let's take a pause before we start to bash people with "You Over-reacted" arguments. These arguments are all based on the numbers of infected who survive vs the numbers of infected who die.

C19 destroys lung tissue. That destroyed tissue never repairs itself and, as such, some victims who recover will live with impaired breathing function for the rest of their lives. Their lives will be almost certainly shortened due to this impairment.

We do not now know how extensively C19 will damage every infected person's lung tissue. As such, a bit of "over-reaction" is not unreasonable for the time being.

And how are they exactly? Less than 50,000 cases in a country of 60 million people. The way the media is reacting to the Italian numbers you'd think half the population was infected.

For now. My job is fine at the moment, but we WILL feel impacts a couple months from now when the money stops coming in

You realize that helped my argument much more than yours.

For now. We're only at a few hundred deaths at the moment, but there WILL be more if we pretend that it's all fine.

Your point that the global economy has been shut down is made by billions of people who are still working

It’s hard to take anything you say seriously if you continue to argue that the measures this administration has taken to fight this pandemic will not have massive economic long term consequences. Many jobs have already been lost and those working from home or in any non essential service industry might feel like they have work to do for the time being, but if this continues for more than 2-3 weeks, they will also be out of a job. It’s not sustainable.

I haven't ever come close to making that point.

The person I replied to was screaming at the sky that we're in a global economic shut down.

Great! Now use that reasoning and talk about the billions of people don't and won't get the China Virus.

I guess it depends on how you define a shut down but it looks/feels like we are headed in that direction.

Let's see what today brings us. If deaths continue to drop over the next few days, then we can start to feel better about ourselves. I personally think that we will start to see a decline in deaths and a steady dip in the number of cases. If these anti-malaria pills are as good as advertised, this bitch may be over with sooner rather than later and we will have panicked - once again - for nothing.

We need to see more recoveries being posted. I think that will be the big thing people grab hold onto for solid positivism. Right now our deaths are almost double the recoveries. While we know there are probably tons out there who have had it, recovered and were never reported, seeing a solid, official number has far more impact than speculation.

Ok. If 5 billion people get coronavirus, there are still billions who didn't get it.

Maybe, but we aren't there right now, and that's the point he made.
