I'm sure we can make sure he is visiting pops real soon.

My money will be on leveling everything and letting them sort it out.

Boots on ground and GOP loses next 2 elections. This generation does not have the stomach for something like this. Iraq PTSD is real

This is a message board. It's not the Pentagon

Dear Diary.

A message board where your opinion is as useless as everyone else’s.

That is certainly a very real possibility

That is what is going to happen. The younger Khamenei is part of a clique where the IRGC is fully in control, with the clerical class mostly sidelined. As is the pattern in Muslims countries, the military is going to take a more prominent role. Even in the unlikely event of complete secular, democratic governance, this wing will still exist and will exist to undermine that governance not unlike the militarists and monarchists in Weimar Germany.

It is completely impossible to destroy that wing in its entirety. We weren't able to do it with the Nazi's, the Baath party nor the Imperial wing of the Japanese, as the LDP in its earliest forms had plenty of Imperial-era civil servants who were not purged. Similarly, in Revolutionary Iran itself, the Imperial-era secret police, SAVAK, was reorganized into the Revolutionary Iranian government as SAVAMA, with many other bureaucratic structures from Imperial Iran subsumed into the new state with many of the same department heads and civil servants.

Iran might as well enter the failed state category at this point, as I don't see them able to influence the region to the same degree. The US and Israel are probably quite okay with that.

Wonder if any insiders got blown up in the process. For this baw to still be in power after 2 days is quite surprising he’s alive.
