If my mom was kidnapped, the media wouldn't be talking about it and the President wouldn't have mobilized the entire eff bee eye to aid in the search for her.
That's my hangup here. I am sad that this happened to Guthrie's mom but there's a huge display of the two tiers of society happening here, and the underlying tone is impossible for me to ignore. And for what? Does Trump think Savannah will just suddenly start talking nice about him or something? I don't understand any of this.

It’s less about Savannah and more about people in the middle. It’s a good move, IMO.

The "people in the middle" still consume mainstream news and social media, platforms that are not friendly at all to Trump. I'm not sure they'll ever hear any "good" spin that Trump was helpful to the Guthrie clan.
Was it the right thing for Trump to do? Certainly. But I don't think it will move the needle in a positive direction in the PR game.
