A highly likely outcome if the regime falls. Iran is way too ethnically and politically fractured, and even fractured along a small religious divide (sunni vs shia) plus there will absolutely be interventions from their neighbors, other regional powers and world powers. Reminds me of what happened to Lebanon in the 80s, sans the Christians.

Reza Pahlavi has taken steps to avoid a long, drawn out rebuild. Over the past few years he’s worked to get the different factions to support him. From what I understand, under his father they were pretty much left alone, so they trust him to do the same thing. As long as they leave the management class intact, a transition could be relatively smooth.
