There is ZERO similarity between the INVASION of today and the immigrants of 100 years ago.

Well, that is just wrong. There are several similarities, the first being that immigrants were coming to America. The second being that there was a very strong opposition to both. There were a lot of dissimilarities, too.

And no, it is not evil. Yes, they ARE encouraging a wholesale re-imagining of this country, but that is not evil. Or was it evil when our ancestors re-imagined this continent away from one inhabited by native hunter gatherers?

Sure, that's a scale issue, but you're also assuming identical services. I'm saying that as density goes down you don't have the same infrastructure. Why do think people who live in very rural areas are typically more self sufficient than an apartment dweller in Manhattan? If everything the government does magically stops where would you rather be?

That's Penrod's extreme, though. Surely, some dude living on his own island by himself will need zero government. But we're talking about reality, and the reality is 8% of community water systems (large municipal systems) provide water to 82% of the US population (according to the CDC (oh shite)).

quote:

I'm not saying people who live in high density areas are bad, I'm just saying that logistics demands more collective solutions as density increases.

But those collective solutions are larger in scale and less expensive per capita, which could translate to less government per capita.

My suggestion is that we don't get more government with higher population density because of need, but rather because there's more money to be made and power to be gathered in a metro area than in small town USA.

It seems that you are determined to keep arguing about this no matter what I post or how much I clarify the original post.

I have no idea what you're talking about. You clarified that you were talking about not needing FEDERAL government and I agreed with you; you just left out that response when you quoted me for whatever reason.

You think there's a significant opposition to legal immigration? Do tell.

Perhaps there is some confusion then.

I just went back and checked the post again and this is everything in it:

For example, infrastructure needs obviously increase, does that mean we need more federal building/materials/environmental regulations?

Absolutely not; the post I responded to just said "government", I think.

Again, you're assuming identical services. A water treatment plant is NOT less expensive than a well, per capita. I'm talking about reality, and the reality is that densely populate urban areas are far more reliant in their day to day life on government services than some rancher in Wyoming. Do you really not agree with this?

On my part; I misread.

The fact remains that the "absolutely not" was agreeing with your statement. No, the increasing collective solutions do NOT have to be federal. We agree. I cannot make it any plainer than that. High density will require more collective solutions but they don't have to be federal.

I agree that the democrats and GOP establishment want the same things. The only person that might do good things for the American Citizens is Trump. The best evidence of this is how the democrats and GOPe attack him...

Progressives are populists, like MAGA. Populists require activist government. The rest of us just want to be left alone.

Then go buy a few acres, get off the grid, get off of this forum and disconnect from society. No one will come looking for you and you'll be left alone.

No idiot, it's called taking the bad guys at their word.

They have not been hiding their intent.

They have opened the border for full on invasion, period.

There is nothing good about their intentions.

Keep living in your fantasy world, but in the real world, the Democrats have become full on fking evil.

Since I found out that men can get pregnant, I refuse to allow my wife to sleep in the bed with me. Don't want her getting me pregnant. I'm entirely too close to retirement to be saddled with a newborn. H3ll, I'd be close to 75 when it graduated from high school.
