Many of those? High percentage of minorities.

NM in particular has lots of reservations which have a shitty standard of living.

Know who isn’t on the list? States like Vermont and Maine which are almost uniformly white.

Christ, Natchez is a depressing place to go to these days. At least they get to say “We aren’t Ferriday” though.

You should start with the ten states you're labeling red. What's the criteria? Who's governor? Party registration? However you do it, there are a number of states on your list that are not red.

Coincidentally, most were also governed exclusively by democrats from 1877 until the late 90’s/early 2000’s

Exactly. Here’s the breakdown over the last one hundred years of states governors….

MIssissippi 21 Ds 4 Rs
LA 21 Ds 4 Rs
GA 20 Ds 3 Rs
NM 18 Ds 10 Rs
WV 13 Ds 8 Rs
KY 18 Ds 6 Rs
AR 19 Ds 4 Rs
AL 19 Ds 5 Rs
OK 19 Ds 6 Rs
TN 14 Ds 6 Rs

So the only state that’s sort of close is West Virginia. The rest have been dominated by Ds for a hundred years. They’ve only recently turned red.

We don't have a Democrat mayor in Lafayette. Maybe that's why we're doing better than the rest.

Shorty Rob hit on it.

The Left are masters at division.

Breaking it down into Red or Blue States allow the Left to criticize Southerners without revealing their racist souls.

You will find that the poverty/educational/crime problems in those Red States would go away for the most part if we were to remove the Democrats living in those states from the equation.

It's honestly amazing to me that liberals STILL don't see the gaping holes in this age old lame assed argument

All the poor people live in the BLUE cities located in the RED states! This is the strategy of the DEMS....big city blues mean easy voting blocks!

DEMS are destroying the minorities and they are too blind to see through free money that keeps them barely alive!

For example, not a pure southern state.............but did you know the following?

Texas falls behind Minnesota and Wisconsin in standardized scores for K-12 students.

HOWEVER, EVERY SINGLE SUBGROUP of Texans scores BETTER than their counterparts in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

This isn't some shock either. If you "race normed" Louisiana, it suddenly falls a shade over middle of the pack in the same education numbers.

This is one of those subjects that sooooo many liberals prove their lack of critical thinking on.

Someone on one of their favorite sites brings up the state level numbers and, it just never fricking occurs to them that there are OBVIOUS problems.

Of course, these same liberals always love to point to some of the whitest fricking countries on the planet when talking about places that are soooooo much better than the United States too. Same blind spot

These are likely the states with the lowest cost of living as well.

This. The Census has an official poverty index but that does not include things like cost of living. They also calculate the Supplemental Poverty Measure, which attempts to take those things into account and is considered more accurate. The state under the SPM with the highest poverty is California, followed by DC.

SPM Explained

California has highest poverty rate

These states are more blue than you think. Take Louisiana for example. Ran by BLue morons. One of the reasons I will never move back. Its trash. I dont even like driving on their shitty roads when I visit from Texas. Horrible. They waste money. It evaporates.

Last time I looked California’s home ownership percentage was 54%, Alabama’s was 73%

Even single mothers working a semi-decent job in Alabama can afford a home. In California they’re locked into renting.

Oh and before some idiot says that’s not possible in Alabama, I’m a realtor and I have done it on multiple occasions.
