Exactly, you won’t read because you’re scared of the truth.
So you're flinging shite and getting angry when you get called on it..
But you think I'm afraid of "truth"

This study is about the guys who own two gun-safes full of weapons. That sort of obsessive-compulsive hoarding is interesting and worthy of study.
Perhaps. I'm more interested in whether it's actually leading to something harmful.
I don't have a stockpile of guns. The notion of people having some doesn't generally scare me, but I'm wondering if it should.

i mean, is this any less odd than people keeping food reserves for potential emergencies?
A truly paranoid person *ahem* realizes that food production is orders of magnitude more important than the capability to enact violence, especially since someone can murder you for one crop (maybe!) but won't be able to produce more the following season.

Yet it is collected data.
Sociology differs from real science in that the findings are not empirical, they are in fact opinion.
Raw data by itself doesn't prove anything.

I found it interesting, I wanted to discuss it. Did I know it would piss some like Bengal off? Sure, but those are the fools that don’t deserve to be considered anyhow. I want to have the conversation with people at least willing to read the study and objectively say there is probably something there, because there is.
The study DOES seem interesting, based upon the limited info you posted. In a bit, I plan to look at the actual study, rather than the media accounts of the study.
The truly interesting thing about the reaction, to me, is the huge jumps in logic about what the study "says" and the defensiveness of the reactions.

Incomplete data which leads to erroneous conclusions. Especially when a specific agenda is being put in use.

I used to work at a gun shop during the summers. There are the whackadoo preppers out there.
But you are talking about an extremely small percentage of gun owners. Usually those who have more than 3 guns factor into 2 groups: Collectors, Hunters, or Shooting Enthusiasts.

It appears there are pros and cons to that argument. You were deriding him for that position, so I Googled it. Your derision had me thinking it was universally discredited.
Turns out there are loads of studies showing both.
Video games and FPS video games have been around for a very long time as far as this discussion is concerned
The frequency and recency of these shootings can not be explained away by video games

Yes you know a few so it's rampant.
And apparently you know none so it’s non-existent.

Most I know fit in these categories.
Has anyone given a scientific explanation of what "stockpiling guns" means?

Hi.
I like guns. I have a bunch of land. I like to shoot guns on my land. Why? Because it’s fun. And because it’s my land.
Am I scared of some end of the world? Nope.
Economic collapse? Nope.
The commies? Nope
The govt? Nope.
I just like to shoot guns so I buy guns and I shoot them.
Why is that a bad thing?

I would say very few people in the country are preppers.
What would you estimate, and how many firearms is "stockpiling guns?"

That tactic of calling people who disagree with you “scared” (i.e. homophobic, islamaphobic, etc) doesn’t actually stick you know. Nobody believes someone who defends traditional marriage is actually scared of gay people.
