But you are talking about an extremely small percentage of gun owners. Usually those who have more than 3 guns factor into 2 groups: Collectors, Hunters, or Shooting Enthusiasts.
You are literally talking about a small percentage of gun owners who will ever shoot up a school or a concert, but it’s a problem when it happens and some people on this board say shite happens, the day is beautiful, just go fishing. That was a statement in the thread yesterday when the shooting was first reported.
Should guns be actually taken away? No. BUT there is a problem, and understanding the motivations behind gun ownership - which is all this article was - is a discussion worth having.

Has anyone given a scientific explanation of what "stockpiling guns" means?

You've changed your mind again???

You think there is zero truth to the entire article and all those studies?
Yes.
I'm also extremely interested to see gun crimes and gun deaths per capita per race.

If I had to guess it might apply to some conspiracy theorist loons that think we are on the brink of some domestic conflict of some sort
Since we know that no conspiracy theorists post here as evidenced by the 1900 page long conspiracy thread that stays on the first page I'm not sure why he chose to post it here.

The frequency and recency of these shootings can not be explained away by video games
I think we have a mental health crisis that is going unchecked. I don't know what do do about it. I just do my best to make sure my kids are raised effectively.
But the kid had pipe bombs, which are very illegal. If guns were illegal, he would have used the bombs.

Well since the OP came out with this in the subject line, I assume he knows what it means.
So what is it, OP?

It's hilarious you actually think those people are in search of truth

Just curious. Is he really as ... strange ... as he seems, or is it a trolling act?
He has always been that way on this board, and that’s as close as I ever want to get to him,

The truly interesting thing about the reaction, to me, is the huge jumps in logic about what the study "says" and the defensiveness of the reactions.
Agreed. I called no one a single thing with that OP, I merely linked to an article. The responses were more than interesting, as were the inferences taken from it.

It’s the title of the article, Roger. Good grief.

I wonder if they would do such a study on people who lock their doors?
Or their car doors?
Or own big dogs...

That doesn't answer the question
How many guns collected is stockpiling?

I don’t think Congress lets the CDC even study such things. That would be a problem, wouldn’t it?

Heard a skyscreamer say on Mark Thompson’s show yesterday that all you need to hunt with is a single barrel shotgun. Everything else should be banned.

You are literally talking about a small percentage of gun owners who will ever shoot Iona school or a concert,
Many school shooters are not legally able to own or possess weapons.

Hi.
I like guns. I have a bunch of land. I like to shoot guns on my land. Why? Because it’s fun. And because it’s my land.
Am I scared of some end of the world? Nope.
Economic collapse? Nope.
The commies? Nope
The govt? Nope.
I just like to shoot guns so I buy guns and I shoot them.
Why is that a bad thing?

Yet you seem uninterested in discussing whether gun ownership or "stockpiling", in and of itself, correlates to people actually doing harmful things with those weapons. So, to what end is the discussion worthy? What is it, we are looking to draw from this data, if not that?

quote:Ony about 0.02% of legal gun owners ever commit a crime with their guns. The number that commit a mass shooting.... it’s a lot more 0’s.
