Restaurants are more profitable when dining areas are closed.

There are several places near me with no indoor dining anymore because they can't hire enough staff.

I went to a Wendy's a few weeks ago. Parked and started walking to the door. A young lady popped her head out of the drive thru window and yelled that the lobby was closed.

I went to a different place that I could sit down.

Clarification:

They cannot find enough people to work there, at the wages they are offering, to open the inside.

Look the McD by my house has yet to open the inside either. Most hours of the day the drive thru line is out to the street.

So why should they pay more money to hire workers so they can open the inside, when they seem to be doing just fine running only the drive thru.

Also, the one by us has the double drive thru, but both lanes are only open about half the time.

My wife (no pics) went to the On The Border in Southaven, MS last night. The person seating her warned her that service was slow because they had only two servers for the entire place. Due to this, they had to limit seating and even then they were falling behind.

We had a similar problem at Outback in Slidell, a few weeks ago. They had 2/3 of tables closed and were only seating 4 or less at the tables they did have open.

I don't understand it as the free money is all dried up, but no one is working the < $15 an hour jobs.

We went from stimulus to tax refunds to advance child credit payments to tax refunds.

By May or June the refunds will be spent. If there is no more advance payments, or stimulus, people will start to go back to those jobs.

I'm in south FL, and all of the fast food places near me are fully open.

My mother was watching me play pickleball and wore a "Trump 2020" hat. She was a little nervous because she didn't know if it was too political, but it was the only hat she had.

She got so many complements on her hat. One Hungarian women walked up to her and said, "You and me - we instant friends". She felt great, afterwards, and has vowed to wear Trump wear out in public more. She believes it's important to let liberals know that conservatives are out there and in huge numbers.

Later, we hit up a local store, called "Nautical, But Nice".

It's expensive to clean with the Covid guidelines and workers now cost more and are harder to get. Old people shouldn't be eating that trash anyway.
