On another note I worry that this may turn into a way to funnel money to contractors. If the "job still needs to be done" and the gov doesn't have employees to do it then they will look outside of the gov for help. The contractors would be able to hire the gov employees that were let go keeping employment numbers up but........the cost to the taxpayer doesn't change.
Inarguably, it will become more costly because the private venture is motivated by profit and growth. From the public perspective, their profit is government waste because it costs more than just hiring the employees to be government workers. From my military days, I have a pretty low opinion of government contracting. Most of the ventures are in essentially corporate welfare queens. If you want something done right, you do it yourself. Why do you think companies like Apple and others in the past attempt to do vertical integration when they reach the institutional capacity to pull it off?

By allowing the power of the EO to grow unchecked we have concentrated entirely too much power into the Executive Branch. It gives a rolling soft dictatorship.
The difference is the EO would be limiting government to eliminate waste within the executive branch
Now imagine a new president coming in and saying let hire anothe 25,000 people at taxpayer expense - personally, if like to see the people's reaction to that massive increase in spending

I’ve heard food stamps and Medicaid being a possible target to work towards making those cuts.
I've heard nothing of food stamps and medicaid being "targeted."
Just FWIW.

That’s the rub: defense, Medicare, and social security are the big line items yet people like national security and the social safety net for the elderly. I fear that most of everything else is trimming around the edges but acting like you just sculpted something from granite.
The PT board is blood thristy for some federal employee scalps but the problem is personal and corporate entitlements. That’s a much more difficult scalp to take.

quote:wasn't one of the reasons to go against Trump on this because Congress hand appropriated (or was it earmarked?) funds to the program? In effect giving tacit consent.
In a major rebuke to President Trump, the U.S. Supreme Court has blocked the administration's plan to dismantle an Obama-era program that has protected 700,000 so-called DREAMers from deportation. The vote was 5-4, with Chief Justice John Roberts writing the opinion.
What we are seeing in some cases, primarily in DHS because of so many departments, is funds are being spent without specific earmark or appropriation which will change things a bit.

frick you working from home losers. If we can’t see you, you’re not working. Get the frick back to work or go broke. Your choice libtard fricks.
You’re a dumbass. Have you ever supervised or managed people? If so, did you evaluate their performance on nothing but their ability to show up at the workplace. Do you understand the savings in construction costs, maintenance, utilities, insurance, rent etc. for people that you don’t have to provide office space for? Or maybe you just don’ have a clue what DOGE plans to accomplish? And what makes you think that only liberals prefer to work from home? I’m also pretty sure Donald Trump plans to work from his office at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Confirms my suspicions that this won’t be an actual government agency.
