Nobody cares about this political stunt
over a redundant bill

they'll be determining who is viable on the next vote.
just a hop skip and a jump to death panels and the much needed relief from this global warming they're harping.

The Senate is scheduled to vote Monday on a bill that would put in place requirements for the care of infants born after failed abortions — and could send doctors to prison if they failed to comply

Now, inspired in part by the Virginia bill, Trump and other Republicans are bringing back the issue of very late abortions, perhaps in the hope of energizing their base in advance of 2020.

In 2002, Congress passed the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which guaranteed to infants born at any stage of development full legal rights. That bill, which passed with bipartisan support, did not include criminal penalties for doctors and did not impose specific requirements on medical care.

1. If a fetus is born alive, would it not already be a crime (homicide) to kill it? Why is this proposal not redundant of existing States homicide laws?
2. What is the Constititional basis for yet another federal criminal law? Should this matter not be decided by the States?

Because of an arbitrary designation given the certain fetuses immediately after birth by several recent state laws.

I’m personally fine with that, but I can see why people with a more instrinsic view of human life as special would support federal protections on it.
Again, I’m concerned about the principle more than the practicality. 44 United States senators believe a doctor should be able to terminate the life of a human after birth if the mother requests as much.

That’s a pretty far reaching comparison. Voting for abortion rights, especially a viable fetus is not equal to teenagers/ twenty somethings having turf wars.
I agree, that's why I stressed DIFFERENT.
They're just 2 different forms of the same thing though: lack of appreciation for human life.
Both sides are catered to by the American Left.

This is impossible. Just 2 years ago, liberals here said we were all paranoid loons for thinking they’d eventually try to mainstream post birth abortion.

As a believer, read Romans chapter 1 and none of this is surprising but it doesn't make it less heinous:
29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Nearly half of the United States Senate believes, or thinks their constituents believe, that a doctor should be allowed to terminate potentially viable fetus after they are born.
This is disingenuous and you know it.
The bill was to make it a felony for doctors to not provide care for babies that survive and abortion attempt.
Do I agree with the bill? Hell yeah I do.
Do I think abortion should be illegal? Yep.
But your thread is a pile of misinformation.

What would you call it then?
The only difference between murder and euthanasia is the legality. Terminating the life of a viable fetus after birth is either murder or euthanasia, by definition it must be one or the other unless you’re prepared to argue such an entity is less than human.

My point is that Democrats are succeeding enough in shooting themselves in the foot that we don’t need to mince or church up words to help them. Straight facts homey.
