Sahin saga takes new twist with Liverpool set to beat Arsenal to loan of midfielder

Sahin latest: Midfielder's agent flies to Liverpool as Reds steal a march on stubborn Arsenal

Being reported by a lot of sources. Good job "negotiating" this deal. We have been waiting for confirmation for 3 weeks on a deal we won't even make because we are too stubborn.

Tony Barret reporting the Sahin deal so I know it's true. LFC will pay 70% of his wages.

frick you Arsene. I don't give a shite about Arsenal's bank account, I want a good fricking team. That means not watching mediocre arse players like Diaby start league games

It would be great for Inter if they could unload Maicon.

I don't believe Arsene handles the business side of things. That is Ivan Gazidis. That is who you should be mad at. And this wasn't about us not wanting to spend money. We were pushing for a permanent move and Madrid only wants a loan move. That's where we lost him. Now we have to go and identify another midfielder that we like and try and quickly get a deal done. It was stupid of us to spend all this time trying to buy Sahin from Madrid if they had no intent of selling. We could have had already signed another player instead.

Correction: It was Sahin and his agent who only wanted a loan move.

No Arsenal wanted a "trigger" price and Madrid wanted an "optional" price as far as I can tell. Not sure what Liverpool will get yet.

Liverpool have moved to seal a loan deal for Nuri Sahin after his talks with Arsenal break down
What I read was Arsene wanted to buy him outright instead of a loan deal. Doesn't matter Arsenal propaganda machine is spinning this as we changed our interest concerning Sahin. Yea you chased him for a month and then decided today that "Nah Sahin. Who needs that guy?" WTF?

Lots of conflicting reports. He will be a LFC player. Not sure of a permanent option or not

and since he probably wouldn't be in early enough to play this weekend, he would make his PL debut against guess who? yep...

I don't find it tasty at all. In fact tell the waiter I found it very untasty. Don't worry we have Abou "2 games is the most I can go without injury" Diaby. He is super quality just like Sahin.

Steklenberg to Fulham

I think Stekelenberg may be sold but Roma want to get back the full price they paid. Roma's on the verge of signing a GK Goichoechea from Uruguay.

Last summer, I was as excited to see him signed as any other player. However, he's really been fairly lackluster and Zeman supposedly isn't sold on his ability to play the ball quickly enough out of the back. He also has some nagging issues with his back.

That said he still seems to have a really high potential just may not be the right fit for a team pushing attackers forward and also risking a lot of one on ones with the GK.

He may end up being an excellent option for Fulham but I've also heard Tottenham rumors. (Though someone in the British media seems to link them to every player ever for sale in Italy.)

I'm not totally sure why Fulham would spend a substantial amount on a keeper. Schwarter's old but was still good last year and the backup/presumed heir apparent David Stockdale has made the England squad (granted maybe that's not saying a whole lot).

Maybe they think Schwartzer has regressed considerably and don't rate Stockdale that highly, but it seems like there are mote pressing needs. CM for one. Mahamadou Diarra and Moussa Dembele are a really underrated CM pair but after that there's a big drop off to Steve Sidwell and then another big dropoff after that.

And then there's obviously the Dempsey thing, in which case a striker or attacking mid would seem like a bigger need.
