Another Pulisic Thread

I've never been excited more about a US player. It's crazy that he's doing what he's doing as an (barely) 18 year old. I understand 18 year olds make waves at major clubs all the time. But it's never been one of our boys. And judging from everything we've seen so far, it's absolutely fair to say the kid isn't a flash in the pan kind of player. He has it all - speed and quickness, touch, poise, defensive tenacity and desire, and most importantly a fantastic football brain. His field awareness is superb for a player his age and with his lack of experience. It has to be a good sign that he played 90 minutes today. With the energy he plays with, it's impressive as hell he could last the full 90. He's basically starting every (meaningful) match for Dortmund at the moment and he's been arguably their most important player in this early part of the season. I don't know what Tuchel will do when Reus is back and healthy, but I have to think Pulisic won't be the player to make way for him. I can't say enough good things about the guy. Can't wait to see him against Mexico next week.

The fact that Pulisic is regularly starting and going 90 minutes while Dembele and Mor fight for playing time is hella encouraging. Will be interesting to see what happens when Reus and Schurrle are both fully fit. Regardless, coming into the year, we were all skeptical if he could beat Mor and Dembele, but he is doing that right now and doing it soundly.
What's also great about his rise is that he is a full-blooded American who was discovered by Dortmund in a US youth system, which is instantly more relatable for youth soccer players in this country.

He struggled against Schalke but still had moments during what is the biggest derby in all of Germany. Then he starts and goes 90 in the next champions league game while Mor sits the bench and Dembele gets subbed at halftime. Admittedly Dortmund has injuries but that says a lot about how highly regarded he is. For the second champions league game now he has hit the post and today he should also have earned his team a penalty with a slick move in the box that totally f'd up the defender, who brought him down without touching the ball. He looked a little tired today, and let's be honest, he's getting tons of playing time this year in three different competitions in his first full pro season, not to mention his time with the national team, so fatigue is to be expected.
I can't wait to see what he does against Mexico. He better fricking start or I swear to god I'm flying to Jurgen's plush Cali home and slapping him in the face myself.

I'm anxious to see Julian Green again too. He's looked like a different player his last few outings for the US and his club situation at Bayern is looking much better than it has the past couple of seasons. He's consistently been on the bench for Bundesliga/UCL matches and then started and scored a goal in the German Cup last week in what looked to be a first team lineup. It looks like he finally put on some weight and doesn't look like a little boy anymore. We forget how young these guys are when they break through and sometimes write them off before they really have a chance to grow into their man bodies.
ETA for the unintentional, gay soccer board comment concerning our players "man bodies." I'm so gay, I don't even notice when I say something gay. This shite is real dog.
If Jurgen fielded a front 3 of Green, Pulisic, and Jozy I might would cream my pants.

Eh...Green has been left out of the 18 plenty lately. He got a run in the Cup, but immediately went back to not being selected in the squad.
Still think he needs a move - even a loan - elsewhere.

He's been left out of the 18 a total of 5 times all season. All competitions. Granted, he's not getting a ton of minutes but it's Bayern dude.
Regarding a loan, I tend to agree. But until that happens, it's pretty cool that they clearly see something in the kid to consistently name him in their match day 18.

Which means in 15 competitive games he's been selected 10 times and played all of twice. I agree they must see something in him, but I'd rather him not languish on the bench or in the stands, even at Bayern.
I'd be happy with sporadic action, but he just will never get it ahead of Lewandowski. And when Lewa gets subbed off, it's usually because they are well ahead and a non-striker comes on.
Just hope he moves on loan in January.

More telling though that he hasn't played outside of two early round Pokal matches, one of which was against a 4.Bundesliga side.

It's interesting to me that Carlo sees him as a center forward while Jurgy thinks he's a winger. I think he'll be one of our top 3-4 players one day, but agree he needs a loan. The kid needs real minutes and let's be honest, he's not going to get them at Bayern. Ever. He'll never be a first choice striker at a club that size

This. Even if he develops into a serviceable starter-type player for them, they could just sign a top tier superstar player and he would be sent back to the bench anyway.
