Ozil played in 30 plus league games all three seasons at RM. Khedira had his only lengthy spell on the sidelines this season.

Is 42m a cut rate price? You can't have it both ways.

You don't think it's strange that Ancelotti got rid of him immediately and Jose didn't want him at Chelsea?

How is that a sign of failure?

Ozil 3 seasons @ Real Madrid:

2012-13: 55 app (3rd on team & 3 less than team leading CR)

2011-12: 52 app (T-4 on team & 3 less than team leading CR)

2010-11: 53 app (T-2 on team & 1 less than team leaading CR)

Didn't really fit into Ancelotti's system(s)

From day one, Mourinho has been talking about building a team that includes attacking players who can apply defensive pressure. You don't do that and then buy Mesut Oezil

ancelotti doesn't use a "10" and preferred isco

jose sold mata, so obviously he had shown his preference for oscar up top in their midfield

That's his MO. He won't answer question, he'll deflect, he'll come in later saying he had been saying it all along. Or he'll give a one word answer which will be absolutely ridiculous.

Also his hatred of all things Arsenal related is not unlike a Catholic priests love of little boys. Both passions run deep.

At least he got the Arsenal Thread alive and active ... all we need now is Glassman pronouncing his love of the team and Ramsey and we'd be in midseason form.

Mourinho was damn sure we would win the championship with Ozil and Demba Ba. Which is a pretty surreal thing to admit. And quite confusing considering Ba is about as average a striker as there is. I still don't understand why Chelsea bought him.

he was hansel-level hot for that one season with newcastle (which was clearly an all-around outlier year for all involved)

He was really on fire his first season at Newcastle. He scored 15 goals in the first half of the season, and then only one after Cisse was bought. I suppose it was mildly surprising that two international teammates couldn't play together, but it was amazing that each canceled the other out. Still, Ba's return for Newcastle, 29 goals in 54 games, is a lot better than his talent would indicate.

I don't think either failed at rm. And has nothing to do wit ozil being at Arsenal or khedira being linked with Arsenal. In fact I'm still surprised we got ozil. That's not how we usually do business.

Glad to see this. I've called for it. It may not be guaranteed to help, but it sure can't hurt.

We can't keep doing what we're doing on the fitness and training front.
