I was talking to my roommate about this, and at this point I would prefer that Jack not play at all. Just stay healthy, work on increasing his ankle strength, and come back strong and healthy for next season.

Yea but it is the Euros this summer and Jack is sure going to try to get some game time so that England takes him.

Jack looked sharp. Played a beautiful ball through to Madividi that he shot just wide. Physical and solid on the ball.

Jeff, Serge, Rosicky, Crowley, and Willock all impressed me.

I know a lot of people are a fan of Gabriel replacing Per but I feel like he's such a liability in a different way. He is wreckless, hot headed, and makes dumb decisions.

I don't know what Chambers has to do to play. Was brilliant for 45 vs. Leicester. Nowhere to be found since.

Iwobi is a stud guys. An absolute stud. The way he works to get the ball and plays it quickly and to the right person, he's like the anti Theo.

I love our attack when Welbeck plays. We just look so much better. Don't care if he's not a 20 goal guy. He is really good.

Yea Gabs looks to be more of a squad member than a starter. I thought we could go one more year before addressing the CB position but now I believe we need to find a replacement for Per this summer.

This sealed it for me. He's been at the club since he was 8 years old. Love to see one of our own make to the first team.

He works hard, but let this sink in. He had 1 shot, Andy Carrol had 10. Carroll bullied our defenders and welbeck got bullied by west ham.

How does this shite continue to happen?

That's true. The knock on Welbeck for me isn't his conversion of chances, but that he usually had a bad touch that takes him out of a chance. There was one yesterday where he was clear through, but under hit a touch and Antonio caught up to let the ball run out.

I was thinking about this while trying to fall asleep last night. Could the problem not be Per and Gabs, but Bellerin. I don't mean this as a knock on Bellerin's play, but his style of play. Kos (for the most part) always looks good, but he is playing next to Monreal. Monreal goes forward much less than Bellerin. So, Kos has a lot more cover on his side. On the other hand, Per/Gab are constantly having to cover that half of the field alone. I am not going to pretend that I fully understand high level soccer, but I'd be interested to see how Kos would fair if played next to Bellerin instead of Monreal.

I think the bigger problem is our defensive shape, in general, is shite. We defend poorly as a unit and constantly leave players exposed.

First goal

We're up 2-0 with two minutes left in the half. Time to take the air out of the ball and get into the half with a two goal lead.

Iwobi, who is obviously talented, gives the ball away cheaply. Alexis gives zero cover on Cresswell, leaving Coquelin to get all the way out to contest the cross, which he can't physically do because he's not The Flash.

Meanwhile, there is no one bodying up Carroll, who should be worn like a shirt all game.

Second goal

Ozil is ghosted, gives no effort on a close out, leaving another uncontested cross. And our entire defense after a corner is near post. Not a single defender back post, where four Hammers are looming. Ridiculous.

Third goal

Iwobi doesn't track back on Antonio, the right back, leaving Monreal to cover and killing our defensive shape. Monreal is beaten to the line, and no one, again, marks Carroll.

Everyone shite on Gabriel, but he was really only to blame on one of the goals, sort of, on which he got a block and a bad luck deflection. Bellerin was poor on two.

Chelsea and Leicester have won the league by getting goals through two red hot attackers (Costa+Hazard, Vardy+Mahrez) and defending with tenacity and compactness.

We are still trying to be Barcelona, without the requisite quality. Wenger lacks ruthlessness and pragmatism to win the league as it is currently constructed.

Wenger lacks pragmatism. I think that sums it up. That whole post

God I can't even watch games anymore with how shite our positioning is. It's like Wenger tells them to go out and play like fricking retards.

Our shape looks better when we have someone with a tactical brain on the field. God I want people to watch Cazorla play the Man City game from a couple of years ago when it was 1-1 with Flamini scoring. And then watch Cazorla again in the 2-0 win against MC. And then watch him against Man U in the 3-0 win. He understands space and how to use it properly. Most of our team doesn't seem to grasp how to position themselves with another teammate. It's like we don't spend any time on it.

Some years we look like a super pragmatic team and go a year unbeaten. And then we have this half-assed shite. I'm honestly tired of watching. It's been the same shite since 2006. At this point I'd rather be bland and boring and win games 1-0 and 2-0 than what we've been doing.

We should've done that for Klopp in '14.
