When Cameron asked him about soccer camp, Lalas responded "beginner's class is full"

Thankfully, Cameron didn't respond.

Yea. I don't see anything wrong with what Alexis said. And I don't always like him. He's really just doing what he gets paid to do.

And most of the guys should understand it. I'm sure they would all love to do what he does when they retire.

Well, I don't hate the guy. But he does have a bit of a douchey quality about him.

As said before, I think as a player it just gets old. They just lost a heartbreaking game, and now Cameron has to see himself being talked about in whatever way. I'd be bitter and not wanna deal with it either. Especially if in Cameron's mind it is going down a road that Lalas will eventually talk shite...like always.

How is this any different than any other sport?

He didn't talk shite until Cameron said something.

Lalas is quite well known to bash the players and team. Is he making light of a situation? Yes, and Cameron reacted badly. But no way Cameron wants to laugh about that. I look at the convo as Lalas was going to make a case for Cameron not to start no matter what, so Cameron put an end to it. It's pretty well known the players don't think highly of him.

He is pompous but he is definitely not a dumbass. Listen to him on the big head red head podcast and you will realize quickly that he has a much better feel for US Soccer than pretty much anybody in the media that covers them.

No he isn't.

Ok, so where is the problem?

I don't think that is what he was doing at all. Hell, in the prematch of USA/Belgium when the lineups came out, he said he thought that Cameron should be starting over Gonzo.

Does that make his opinion any less valid?

Dude, c'mon. It is completely well known Lalas goes above and beyond to be a "realist." Players like Howard and Jozy have already come out and said they don't care for what he thinks. Now Cameron...that's a trend. He isn't just a realist, he tries to stir things up, and obviously players take exception to it at times.

Ole LaLa seems to have a bit of a following on the Soccer Board.

He wants the USA to be in the best position to win the World Cup, what's wrong with that?

Are you mad because he said the US wouldn't get out of the group?

Nothing, problem is when his "analysis" ends up being wrong.

Klinsmann isnt going to get the team out of the group...

How many times did he rip the German/Americans inclusion in the side? Jpnes and Fab were two of the best players on the pitch during this WC for the US.

He went off on adding Yedlin to the 23.

Its not as much that he "wants whats best" its that he is wrong as often as he is right. His career as a front office type in the MLS kind of proves this fact.

Say what you want but the attitude and pompous shite makes folks not like him, especially when you look at his actual track record. If he were more contrite I think many would have a much different opinion of him.

Until Cameron's response, Lalas didn't say anything that would be considered offensive by even the most sensitive person's standards.

I guess you didn't watch World Cup tonight following the German game. He was so happy and went on and on about how he was so happy to be wrong.

frick you guys for making me sound like a Lalas apologist. I don't even overly like the guy, I just think he gets an unfair shake when it comes to analysis.

Listen to the big head red head podcast and trust me, your opinion of him will change.
