Wouldn't you say its a bit extreme to jump to immediately thinking the ref was fixing the game?
Maybe if there wasn't a long history of Barcelona getting favored in games like this.

Absolutely not. And even then, given the amount of favors Barca gets in games, it makes it look even more suspicious.
The referring was disgraceful and the dude should be fired.

Haha, I'm going to pretend like Cuadrado stepped on his Achilles or something. From his Cuadrado's reaction it looks like something happened besides the little hand on the arm.
Granted that was a dive by Ramos no doubt....but at least Cuadrado did hit him with his hand. Hell, Navas didn't even touch Suarez when the penalty was awarded.

Just the way Ronaldo fell down was reason enough to not believe it was a dive. From the ref's point of view, it should have been seen as A) he tripped over his own feet and lost his balance or B) Contact caused him to loose balance and fall. The probably thought it was A and then got pissed when Ronaldo turned around with his hands in the air at the ref. I don't think that warrants a yellow...

What game were you watching?
The replays clearly show Navas's hand hit his leg. He went in pretty strong with his arm too, but even then, Suarez started his dive before contact was made. And unless he got hit in the nuts, there's no way he should have been on the ground wincing in pain like it did. That may have actually been the case

Not to mention holding his shin guard.

That's what makes it worse Suarez dived into Navas after the ball looked like it was going out for a goal kick

So you are agreeing with me right....Navas made no contact to induce a fall, tumble, and near death from a knocked ankle.

Yeah that was bizarre, unless he got hit in the nuts and was just in the fetal position like many go into.

No...contact WAS made. It's hard to tell if enough was made to induce a fall...it doesn't take much sometimes depending on how the player is moving. But no, goalies can't usually get away with hitting players in their legs after the ball has been touched past them.

near death
Like I said, he possibly could have been hit in the nuts. I'm sure you know how bad that can hurt.
I don't defend divers, but this one isn't as clear as others. It does seem that Suarez was trying to draw contact to get the penalty because he had nowhere to go. However, if the goalie makes no contact then the ball just goes out of bounds and it's a goal kick. He swung at the ball and missed and paid a high price for it.

So you said that Suarez started his dive before contact was made.
Which means that whatever happened after that was caused by the dive. If the dive was started before contact was made then that inherently means that Navas did nothing to cause the fall and near death experience that Suarez had....if Suarez hit is balls on Navas' hand well maybe he shouldn't have dove in the first place.

shite the ball might have been out for a goal kick before contact was made. I wish refs would take that into consideration more - no chance anyone was getting to that ball

The video of Ramos slamming Suarez after the pen is called is hilarious
I can't post it at work.

I would watch a Ramos v. Suarez MMA match. In my completely biased opinion, Real would destroy Barcelona in an 11 on 11 brawl.

I figured that had to be what happened, though the title of the video says he got a red card? It looked accidental from that angle?

You suggesting that a ref ignore a foul because the ball may be going out?
Posted on 8/14/17 at 6:36 pm to pvilleguru
Well it should definitely be in the rules that a team doesn't get virtually an automatic goal in a situation where they no threat to score i.e. when the ball is out of bounds but that makes too much sense for soccer.

Im still of the opinion that there was no foul. That contact is never called.
