Do we still compete in qualifying for the next cycle even though we're guaranteed a spot?

Just thinking about what the next cycle will look like and realized we're locked up to compete in the next cup since we're hosting. What does that mean for the games we'd usually play during the qualification period? Do we just schedule friendlies? Will that effect the quality of preparation? I'm assuming it's better to play meaningful matches in qualification then random friendlies.

Sorry if these are dumb questions. I wasnt around last time the states hosted and have never paid attention to how it worked for other host countries.

It’s up to the confederation. Qatar did half of the qualifying so their guys could get games and experience.

No clue what the US will be doing. I expect many matches with Canada and Mexico and to see the A-team at Copa America 2024
