the only thing that makes me not quite so sad is that if he died, he died doing what he loved.
So so so sad but my grandfather died in a duck blind .. he was doing what he loved. Better than having a heart attack that kills you at your desk at a a job that you may or may not love.
That sounds callous but it’s the only thing that makes me not cry.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure the heart needs to be beating for an AED to be used.
Just absolutely horrible.

Don’t they use the defibrillator regardless if there is any heartbeat or not?

I saw both Muamba and Marc Vivien Foe (who died) go down
This feels worse for some reason

Bacterial meningitis is always what I think of when an athlete just collapses...

How does this fricking place not have ambulance access? What the frick Europe
Every big sporting event in America has an ambulance ready to go, with easy access to the field. In Alabama at least you have them at high school football games too. They got the AED out there quickly. Compression speed and depth looked good. They knew what they were doing. The fact that they were able to deliver a shock is huge. Dude had ventricular fibrillation.

I'm reminded of Jerry "The King" Lawler... who had a cardiac arrest live on an episode of WWE Monday Night Raw while sitting at the commentary desk
his heart wasn't beating for like 20-something minutes before they were able to shock him back to life

My 78 year old dad was dead from a sudden cardiac event (dead by the time he hit the ground) and with chest compressions, multiple shocks and multiple shots of adrenaline he was "alive" enough to get to the hospital. Walked out alive 35 days later.
Still alive 5 years later.

That was horrible of the cameras to show. Honestly they should have just cut the stream.

That’s just usually what happens... hear about it a lot.

The one time thunderstorms knocked out my satellite feed and I’m glad it happened. Lost about 10 minutes of coverage and Eriksen collapsed in the middle of the outage.

pretty sure an ambulance on standby is a national rule for HS football
and if the ambulance there is needed... the game won't resume until another has arrived to take its place

Yea its def like that in Texas and La
I remember a game being delayed because they were waiting on an ambulance

If I recall correctly, these are almost always related to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, not bacterial meningitis

a player from my HS needed to be transported during a game once... the game was delayed several minutes as they waiting for the new 1 to arrive

I am almost positive I can remember times when an ambulance was NOT at our high school football games. Three kids with 9 years of football games so we’ve been to a lot. Maybe I’m remembering wrong but I guess we broke the rules.
