Arguably because there is a bit of a generation gap in attacking midfielders in the country, they haven't been forced to jam in a bunch of talent players into a system none of them like to play. Instead Southgate brought 4 right-backs to this tournament, and somehow that's worked out.

I am at a complete loss as to why Southgate is starting Trippier over Saka. That is a real head scratcher and he could very well regret the decision. I think if England have a chance to win they have to score early and pull Italy out.

English soccer will never escape the 'curse of '66' the Russian linesman never saw the ball cross the goal line...yet, he awarded the fraudulent 'goal' and the Brits have been snake bit ever since...lol !
