This is what I've been trying to wrap my head around with his selection. What was the best case scenario performance for him tonight? Something marginally above abject failure?

However, he had no business being in this match and for that I blame Klinsmann. People will hate and spite Wondolowski but I feel they should direct their ire not on the player but on the manager. Absolutely. If we are going to lose, at least do it with your eyes towards the world cup in two years. Having Pulisic and Nagbe play a full half in the midfield together in a game where we are already down 2-0 wouldn't have hurt anything. Its obvious watching that there was a difference whenever Pulisic came on for Wondo. Nagbe would have helped maintain possession. Bradley can't afford to have an off night. Argentina blocked passing lanes and pressed the entire game, and we had no answer.

The fact that this opinion still brings downvotes and disagreement on this board makes me question the collective intelligence of some of our lurkers.

Messi hit it perfectly, but guzan has to save that. It's on his side of the net. No excuse. He hesitates and leans to his right like he's never seen Messi bend a free kick before.
We could have any keeper in the world and that is still a goal 99% of the time

Wondo shouldve never been on this team. He shouldn't have been there in 2014 and he proved it against belgium. I really dont see what he is supposed to bring to the table and we wouldve been better with 20 other guys in his position. I hope he bas some really good blackmail on jurgy cuz otherwise i dont know why he was ever our first striker off the bench when wood was suspended

He's never been good
living off his reputation scoring vs scrub gold cup teams in the group stage.

What pissed me off is he took LD's spot. When Klins said LD was in the forward pool I was like o frick no

Serious question regarding Wondolowski and beckerman' inclusions last night: when was the last time 2 starters were so immediately out of their depth in a major game in a way that was obvious to everyone but the coach? Is it Ricardo Clark and Robbie Findley against Ghana in 2010? I believe Clark was subbed off in the 30th and Findley at halftime. I know the gold cup last year was awful, but I don't think any 2 guys were so obviously outclassed to this extent.

Brad Davis in 2014 against Germany. He was so slow and behind that he almost never appeared on screen regardless of how wide the camera was. Dude was 40 steps behind.

When the team sheet came out with beckerdreds and wondo the game was over. Only things missing were lee nguyen and bornstein.

Nguyen hasn't gotten a chance to establish himself under Jurgen. I agree with the others though.

That inclusion was brilliance. The best you hope for is somebody else to draw a foul or earn a corner so he could take it

Davis was definitely terrible in that game, but I meant a game where 2 people were that level of bad. Effectively, you knew we were playing 9 on 11 as soon as the lineup was announced. Clark and Findley in '10 almost gave me an aneurysm aka Sterling Archer's #1 fear.

He's an MLS poacher. He's good at that. I don't think there is any confusion about his ability level. Strange roster decisions have forced him into situations well above his level twice now

I can give credit to Wondo in that he has squeezed every bit of talent out of himself. Unfortunately, he is at his ceiling and the wrong side of 30. An example from last night was a through ball in which he was, incorrectly, flagged off sides. He has the talent/timing to play off the back shoulder, and he does it well enough to get considered and selected for a 23 man roster. but at this level, he just doesn't have the speed to get to the ball. He should never have been in that game.

STFU with this crap. You imply that it's impossible for a goalie to cover half of the net on a kick from 25 yards out? Guzan almost saved it, and would have if he hadn't stepped right first.
