So far this season, Liverpool are 4th in the League in goals scored (30).
Goals conceded? 11th in the League (26).
The issue this season is the defense. Wonder how different things would have been if the Guehi transfer had gone through?

Comfortably in 4th and staring down a knockout round bye in the CL. We've come a long way since 11th in the table in early November and more consecutive losses than I could count. Hasn't been pretty by any stretch but hopefully Villa can draw with Arsenal and we can start reeling them in next.

The results have been good but the performances haven’t. Hopefully the performances will improve and the results can get better.

It's like our attacking fwds are scared to take people on or try the cutsie b.s. back heels etc. then as the game progresses we get conservative with all the backwards and side to side passing. Leeds played well today, although with our toothless attack all they needed to do was pack the box.

Terrible first half.
Take two of the 5 mid fielders off the field and put cheisa and rio in the game. And for gods sake pass the ball over the defense when someone makes a run. And make more runs.

Playing the same way. Gakpo is not a solo 9, and even so we are playing backwards from the midfield and to the wings only.
Wirtz is the only one outside of Gakpo making runs, and Van Dijk is the only one even trying to go over the top.
Mid-blocks absolutely wreck this team because there is no connected identity among anyone but the midfield. All they know to do is to pass backwards because there is zero attacking availability. Press the mids and we melt. Infuriating.
We really need to play Ngumoha and get some attacking creativity on the pitch.
And for God sakes, movement off the ball needs to increase EVERYWHERE.

we seem to just sort be out there today... lots of walking around, no sense of urgency, lax passing... just a symptom of a larger problem, IMO
