Probably not.

ETA: Was 2010 World Cup the last time Jozy was healthy for an entire tournament?

2017 Gold Cup: was 2nd round call-up
2016 Copa: Missed with injury
2015 Gold Cup: cut after group due to injury
2014 World Cup:
2013 Gold Cup: Not called in (b-squad)
2011 Gold Cup: Hurt in knockout stage

I think Jozy has to be the answer.

Bradley is marred from the failed qualifying, and should not be given it based off of being part of the last generation.

I think Pulisic, Weston, and Adams are still too young. Pulisic can still be a little immature when he thinks he is fouled, then again Clint Dempsey was the skipper for a long time.

Knowing Berhalter, the captain will be Trapp.

To be fair, Jozy is a part of that as well.

Doesn't really matter. Adams is a leader.

There's definite merit to age when it comes to your captain. I don't care how much of a leader Adams is, he's yet to play in a official international match i.e. he's still learning, no need to force the armband on him yet.

If Jozy and Bradley are starting and we're excluding them from being captain, then that means Trapp and Zardes are on the bench, and you're almost forced to go with a young player. Your only other options are essentially Ream, Zimmerman, and Nagbe (if he's playing instead of McKennie).

Who said we're excluding them?

Pretty much everyone has said Jozy.

If you don't want it to be Bradley, then I don't see how you can vote for Jozy. Pretty much everything you want to hold against Bradley, you can say the same for Jozy.

GK (3): Steffen, Guzan, Horvath
DEF (8): Miazga, Long, Adams, Robinson, Lima, Cannon, Ream, Zimmerman
MID (7):Bradley, Lletget, McKennie, Pulisic, Nagbe, Amon, Holmes
FWD (5):Altidore, Arriola, Boyd, Lewis, Sargent

This is a pretty good balance. I like this lineup a lot. Lots of defensive flexibility. A lot of our midfielders are also flexible in their positioning, which helps, especially in a long tournament like this one. I have a feeling Zardes makes it on the roster, probably at Lewis’ or Amon’s expense.

Bradley was captain of the team that failed, so despite Howard, Gonzalez, Villafana, and Nagbe all having trash games against T&T and Bruce being a tactical fricktard, he gets more flak because people think he wasn’t a good leader or something.

True, but Bradley was the captain. I think that makes a difference, at least IMO.

By all accounts, he was the only one trying to be a leader.

The only reason I picked Jozy over Bradley is because Jozy will factor in more this cycle than Bradley.

I said that like two posts back, c'mon dude.

Nagbe

I keep waiting for him to finally prove himself to be the player that he can be, but he just disappears for long stretches and is passive as frick.

I hate to admit it, but Jurgen was 100% right about him.

I think Bradley will be around for the next 2 year, maybe not as a regular starter or a guy that can always go 90', but I think he'll be around. Jozy may not have hamstrings 3 years from now.

He is what he is at this point. He's not going to be a guy to really push the play or be a difference maker around the 18, but he's probably the best we have at relieving pressure, passing in tight spaces, and transitioning from defense to offense. He's not going to win many slide tackles, but he does get a fair number of interceptions and does well denying passing lanes.

Pretty much, you can start McKennie if you want more grit, or Nagbe if you want more finesse.

I’m just not sure Nagbe offers enough defensive bite to play in the middle for us.
