In the spirit of the game and all things America, I feel like we should have kept it closer.

We can't help the fact that we're physically superior. I thought our players were all for equality.

There's really not a whole lot to be proud of when beating a team like that. They were garbage and it's embarrassing to the Women's World Cup and women's soccer as a whole that a team that awful can make it to the World Cup.

Our next two games will at least be against real opponents.

Dude the Germans gave a mass apology to Brasil for scoring like 7 goals in the men's final 5 years ago. And that was against a very talented men's team. Really shitty to score anything past 10 in an opening round IMO

After 45 minutes of obliterating the Brazilian defense en route to a 5-0 halftime lead in the World Cup semifinals, the Germans made a pledge to show respect to the host nation in order to not embarrass them.

“We just made it clear that we had to stay focused and not try to humiliate them,” defender Mats Hummels said to The Daily Mail, following the 7-1 train wreck. “We said we had to stay serious and concentrate at halftime. …

What a bunch of Schlampen. If I were Germany, I would apologize that the Brazilians were so inept that they lost by 6 goals IN THEIR OWN HOME STADIUM. I would then make the comment, "Isn't Brazil supposed to be good at Fussball?"

They only apologized because they didn’t want Brazil to give up locations of any of the Nazis that were hiding there

Any Nazis still alive in 2014 would have had to be in their 90's at a minimum...and you're confusing Brazil with Argentina.

Canuck chicks weighing in on the topic at hand

I understand what they’re saying, and actually kind of agree to a certain point, but just because it’s Canadians saying it I’m like nah, frick that. Celebrate. This World Cup will also become extremely enjoyable if the Americans are turned into the villain.

So they went out and scored 2 more?
You always show respect to your opponent by playing to the whistle.

Chile isn’t much better. We’ll probably win like 6-0.

Even though the highest level of sports i played were varsity high school

I always found it the most disrespectful when the team blowing us out took their foot off the gas or put in the little kid that never got time and starting drawing shite up for him

Oh great now they’re putting in make a wish tommy and running pick and rolls for him... this makes me feel that much better!

Thailand just gave up...it was only like 3-0 in the 50th. We scored 7-8 goals in the last 20 minutes of the game.

The celebrations weren't needed.

I think you could get almost any group of pickup players together in the US (male/female coed even) and they would beat that Thai team.

So Mal Pugh playing in her first ever World Cup match and scoring her first World Cup goal should not be allowed to celebrate it?
