Young, cheap (in today’s market) French players coming in... are we sure Arsène really left?

Two medicals taking place at Arsenal today - 22-year-old Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria and 19-year-old France Under-20 midfielder Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient. Torreira key signing for immediate term, Guendouzi high-potential prospect for future #AFC #URU? #FRA?

I'll take half of Busquets tactically. Really good article.

Hell yeah, and he's taking #11. I like it.

quote:

He has only missed five Serie A matches in the two years since then. Despite his small frame - Torreira stands at only 5ft 6in - he has had a big influence in their midfield.

Torreira made more than 100 tackles last season, the third most of any player in Serie A. He also ranked sixth for interceptions and was in the top 10 for passes too. Druda insists there is much more to come, having once recommended him to Juventus as the long-term heir to Andrea Pirlo.

"He is a computer in the middle of the field. There is nothing to add."

I already see people getting upset with comparing him to kante, but who else would you compare him to?

Same size, same position, Lucas is 5 years younger and their stats are pretty similar, Lucas actual scored more goals last season.

Every time I see a pic of a new signing, I get excited, then I have a long thought on how awful the new jerseys are. That jersey is a real hodge podge of awfulness.

Seems okay to compare. Let's see how the next couple of years shake out.

God damn. So we needed two midfielders and we got them.

Ramsey, Elneny, Xhaka, AMN, Torreria and maybe Guendouzi, depending on how polished he is, in the midfield rotation. We might need one more midfielder. Hopefully we sell some of the dead weight too.

I'd love to see Mustafi go somewhere so we had money to buy that Turkish CB, Söyüncü, who I really like.

Also Campbell, Perez, and Welbeck if he doesn't sign a new contract.

Add Ospina to that list. We still need to sort out the Ramsey situation.

Have to get rid of one of the goalies, probably Ospina. Iwobi, Welbeck?

How weird does it feel for us to pretty much wrap up our incoming transfers 10 days into July? 5 new players in already. New Arsenal is fun.

I feel with a lack of depth a winger, either or new lineups won’t have a “need” for a traditional winger or Kola may get some looks there every here and again. Still getting most of his PT as an alternative to Nacho.
