I still have a hard time believing we can’t hire someone better than Gregg
Remember he had a 38% win rate in the MLS.
We serious can’t do better?
There is no MLS coach with a winning record we can hire?
There’s no non big 5 European coach with a winning record we can hire?

We gon’ learn, boys! What does it all mean?!
Oh yeah? Copa ‘24 has been the only issue? No problems outside of that timeframe?
These guys don’t give a rats arse if we win, they care if it is profitable.
The only way I am wrong is if this causes Gregg to “resign” like what’s his name did after the females got bounced in the round of 16 last time around in their WC.
quote:
A statement from USSF read:
“Our tournament performance fell short of our expectations. We must do better. We will be conducting a comprehensive review of our performance in Copa America and how best to improve the team and results as we look towards the 2026 World Cup.”

Sure. But our best coach was English, not American.

Jesse Marsch was fully in the mix and thanks to politics and stupidity got totally ghosted. And for you JM haters getting ready to downvote, ask yourself if the MNT would have performed better in the Copa with him at the helm.

Why hasn’t he been fired yet?
Posted on 7/2/24 at 2:04 pm to 5 Deep
Because the feckless cünts in charge are hoping to just wait it out, and let it all blow over, which it probably will, and then use the endorsements from Gregggg Guys as an excuse to stick with him.
Matt Crocker’s bitch arse should be run out as well for rehiring gregggg. Same goes for batson and that Cindy cone broad. All these dipshits want to do is the bare minimum, to not rock the boat, so they get to stay in their cushy jobs, and limp dick soccer culture allows them to do that when everything is forgotten about in a couple weeks time.
They may very well fire Berhalter, but I have zero faith in that, and the longer it goes, the less likely it seems to be. I didn’t think there was a chance in hell he’d be hired again after the World Cup, but here we are.

@PhillipMarlowe Betty Crocker was hired to rubber stamp Gregg's rehire. Hey Betty we have the perfect coach for you don't you agree?

Conference call on the morning of July 3, confirmed nor change in leadership until after World Cup!

I don’t think Marsch changes Weah punching a dude in the head or the refs botching a VAR offside call but maybe that’s just me.

Let’s over analyze Matt Crockers statement together:
First and second sentences: it’s an admission that greggg failed expectations in performance. However, it’s not an admittance of stipulation.
Third sentence: comprehensive review can mean anything, but again, it admits that something is wrong based on performance. But the interesting thing is tying it to the WC. He doesn’t stop at just “results”, it’s with consideration for the next two years. Meaning, the CA was tethered to the WC in consideration if whether we are trending in a positive direction.
Something tells me that there was some stipulation in the background of evaluating the CA as a foreshadowing towards the WC. If you also add that Crocker said USSF would do a review after the USWNT failure of their WC, it wasn’t long that the coach resigned and they got a splash hire. Not to mention, this situational heat is compounded by media and fans.
In summary, I think old Squidward is gone, and we could have a good hire in return.

I’m cautiously optimistic after seeing the unanimous call for change over the last 48 hours or so. It’s pretty much 100% of the fanbase and soccer media, from what I’ve seen. That matters.
Matt Crocker’s resume from his time in England is impressive, and he hired a great coach for the women. I really think the re-hire of Gregg was heavily influenced by his bosses. Hopefully he is prudent enough to move on from Gregg and make a great hire for the men. I don’t care if we have to help crowd fund the new manager’s salary, I’ll pitch in a bit. This fanbase is desperate to see the difference a great manager can make. We can’t squander the incredible opportunity of 2026.

I wish people would stop hiring and talking about potential coaches known for a particular style.
To me that means they cannot adapt, think on own, trouble shoot. Try anything different when something isn’t working.
They just read a book on a particular system and that’s all they know.
I dont want that

Anybody have an idea what a realistic timeline for change may be?
Posted on 7/4/24 at 4:37 pm to ohiovol
If so, within 2 weeks is my guess considering 4th of July weekend and going off the timeline that Vlatko resigned after the USWNT WC. Like all things there are contractural details to work out linked to a fired or resigned narrative.

Seems like a good time for Gregg to decide he wants to spend more time with his family.

If sources are to be believed, supposedly there was a fiery meeting yesterday at the Soccer House between Matt Crocker and the USSF heads. That was likely the initial conversation about whether to keep Gregg or not.
If we keep Gregg, Crocker likely meets with Gregg privately in the next week or so to discuss the “review” and plans going forward. The USSF might not even bother to make an official “We’re keeping Gregg” statement, since that would receive universal blowback, and they more likely just wouldn’t say anything, hoping we all forget.
If we fire Gregg, Crocker would still meet with Gregg privately for the “review” in the next week or so, with an official announcement of his firing or resignation coming in the next 2 weeks or so. That was the timeline for Vlatko. Crocker will have already prepared a shortlist of candidates in advance, and he would be reaching out to their agents as we speak. Today isn’t a holiday for him, if Gregg is fired. The complexities of Gregg’s buyout will have to be negotiated, as well.
No doubt Crocker will check with unlikely candidates like Klopp, Pep, and Ancelotti, as well, on the off-chance they want the job. He’ll be separating the serious candidates from the non-viable ones over the next few weeks, and then schedule meetings and interviews with the serious candidates. We’ll start hearing leaks about the meetings. This hiring process could take a few weeks or a few months, depending on the number and quality of candidates. The official announcement would likely be in late July at the earliest, and more likely in August. The USSF will have to agree with the new coach on the contract, living arrangements, etc.
I think Crocker would have the prudence to ensure the new hire is in place ahead of the September friendlies. This is a completely different timeline and sense of urgency from the Emma Hayes hire and both of Gregg’s hirings. We can’t afford to screw around under an interim coach for long. Every game is precious. We have 23 months to prepare the team for the most important tournament in our history.

Yeah, best thing for him long term in looking good is thank the USSF for the opportunity, resign, spend a long time out of the spotlight, do some podcasts gigs AFTER the 26 WC, and just speak highly of US soccer at large. Then consider taking a mid level supportive role in some non profit capacity where his vibes will benefit from his desire to galvanize a group.

Zero percent chance he does any of that.
He strikes as a guy who will go the Jurgen route and say how he was wronged by USSF and that, despite results, he had the team on the right track.
They have that same ego.
