We're also trotting out Birnbaum at RB... take the good with the bad, I guess. I kind of wanted to see how Acosta would do as an outside back against a team with an actual pulse.

According to the lineup notes that were posted on Twitter, birnbaum and Omar are in central defense. So Cameron at right back.

If so, Birnbaum is the only player out of position. I know that Klinsmann played him at RB before but that is literally the only time he has ever played RB. Even so, this lineup is a definite step in the right direction.

I prefer Cameron at CB but with this backline it makes sense to play Cameron at RB. Cameron has played a lot of RB, Birnbaum has played 99% of his professional minutes as a CB. Still, this is as close to getting it right as Klinsmann has done in a while. Kljestan is going to be driving and distributing balls to players all over that midfield. I can't wait to see the combinations between Kljestan and Pulisic.

Considering we were forced into multiple changes in the back, I love this lineup. The front 6 were exactly what I wanted to see and I'm glad Birnbaum is getting a solid look.
