Are we completely certain Fabs was actually going to play mid in this set of matches? If so, are we looking at a Feilhaber call-up?

Bigger question is if he was going to play LB, who do we bring on for depth there? I wouldn't dream of playing Beasley a full match, and that was a thin position on both sides even before both Yedlin and Fabs down now.

The good thing about that is we seem to have several mids capable of playing this match and pushing us to Ws. It sucks... I was ready to see Fabian on the wings and a Pulisic/Nagbe/Bradley combo to round out the midfield.

Honduras' front three start for Houston. Da Beas probably knows a thing or two about them.

Arena seems to be making a practical choice with Beasley and it makes sense. Beasley's experience and knowledge could be crucial and its not like the USMNT has a stellar left back who is being displaced. Klinsmann seemed to hammer round pegs into square holes with only regard to his own preference in a broad sense. Arena may focus more on practicality specific to an individual match. The overall philosophy will be the same but he will tailor individual factors as he thinks will give a specific practical edge. Beasley against Honduras makes sense in that case. I don't think Beasley is in Arena's long term focus but rather keyed to the short term benefit.

I agree on the Beasley thing. I always have a confidence in him when he's out there. Whether he can still do it or not, I don't know. But he's smart and has the kind of body that will hold up forever. I feel like he would be able to play 90 minutes in a qualifier with a couple days notice and be ok in the legs to do it

Sounds like we get to have Timmeh starting in goal both matches then. Love it!

Alfredo Morales starts against Dortmund also.

Why doesn't Alfredo get more call ups for the USMNT?

It wouldn't surprise me. He played Danny Williams at RM against Italy.

So we lose a midfielder but call up a midfielder who we're trying to turn into a RB?

I thought we fired Jurgen.

ETA: Bruce please don't ruin your legacy.
