Mbappe will finish off in the Ronaldo tier

Wait I thought you said he was worse than Messi?

Now he's in a tier of superior players?

Tier 1: Messi

Tier 2: Pele, Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mbappe

Tier: Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Ronaldo, etc

Mbappe can't be in the running until he gets out of Ligue 1 and challenges himself against the best.

Also, Chelsea are looking for a goal scorer...

I feel like it’s a little early to put Mbappé in any category. I would put Zizou in tier 2 though, maybe 2.5.

Has Mbappé even finished top 3 for a Ballon d’Or?

I’m not yet convinced he’s even the GOAT French player - Zidane, Henry and Platini are arguably better players.

No doubt on Mbappe. I'm just saying I think Tier 2 is his ceiling and that isn't a bad place.

Agree on Zidane but blanked a bit. 2.5 seems perfect

There are several you could mention. Vieira, Makelele, Eric Cantona, and maybe even players like Jean-Pierre Papin or Lillian Thuram.

If Mbappe wanted to be a PSG lifer and won 5 UCLs with them while racking up scoring titles and Balon d'Ors then he could rapidly rise up the rankings - otherwise I agree with Tier 2 max

Now if he moved to EPL or La Liga and did similar things the potential is a bit higher

Waaaaay too early for any of this convo, although his international career could boost all of this

Anybody find this topic ironic considering he is playing Messi, his teammate, so (in the near future at least) any club triumphs would be shared and put him further behind?

Man, a lot of people must be pretty young and must have missed prime Messi. Mbappe is incredible, but he's reached nowhere near the impact Messi was having in his prime.

I think Mbappe will be what people thought the original Ronaldo would be like.

Ronaldo didn’t reach his potential because modern sports medicine had not caught up and because he was undisciplined as hell with his partying and diet.

Mbappe seems much more disciplined, has had fewer injuries this far in his career, and if/when he gets a serious injury, he will have better care available.

I think the peak for the original Ronaldo (if he took care of himself and was blessed
with today’s medicine) was Pele.

Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have both surpassed Pele, but in 1997-98, no one thought Pele and Maradona were going to be surpassed.

Most of Messi goals this wc came from penalties.

Yeah if we're comparing peaks, OG Ronaldo has an argument. It's just sad we missed the 2nd half of his career (which coincided with me learning about soccer, ironically).

Regardless of your thoughts between CR7 and Messi, this is a superb troll. 10/10.
