I have checked a few sites for the knockout bracket and see the same thing - do they really have teams from the same group on the same side of the bracket? WTF?

They did this in 2002 for Korea/Japan. Im assuming it’s an Australian and New Zealand bracket?

Yeah I thought that was odd as well. All the teams advancing from the same groups could theoretically face each other in the semifinals

Just watched the Germany-South Korea highlights.
This shite is so fricking rigged.
The referees put up 9 minutes of stoppage time to end the game.
How many did they play?
fricking 16 minutes.
Ridiculous. Thankfully the South Koreans held on and sent Germany home.
ETA: 9 minutes of stoppage time were added in the Morocco-Colombia game as well. They played 11 minutes.

Nah. I was watching live during both of these games, flipping back and forth.
Colombia’s keeper was down for injury for a couple minutes in that game in stoppage time.
And in Germany/South Korea, South Korea had at least 3 players go down for several minutes - one of which had to be stretchered off and subbed out. It didn’t seem like an unfair amount of time live at all.

It’s a good thing they do that now. Doesn’t allow the teams that exaggerate injuries during stoppage time to have an unfair advantage.
And Germany just continues their poor run of play.
Kind of crazy to have Canada, Brazil, and Germany out.

Every US game from Sweden thru the final will have shite kickoff times for us

Semifinals at 3am

If we had won the group, we would’ve had much better times for the R16 and QF.
Then again, if we keep playing like we’ve been playing, we may only be around the knockout stage for one game..

Interesting stat
Of the clubs who have players in the tournament who have scored the most goals over only one NWSL franchise is on the list
The rest of clubs from the WSL and France

From ESPN. This mirrors what we have all been seeing:
This is a team of individuals with poor coaching and poor ideas of how to pass and move together as a unit. They are also fricking up the basics like first touch, pass direction/weight, etc. We have no control in the middle of the field. Horan doesn’t do any defensive work and Ertz should be playing the 6 so we can actually have a ball winner in midfield but Vlatko is obsessed with her at CB for some reason. Sophia Smith is a statistical outlier in the NWSL at forward yet we are playing her on the wing. Imagine if Berhalter played Balogun on the wing instead of at striker and Tyler Adams at CB. There is no interplay/overlap between the backs and the wings. The game plan appears to be pass to the wingers and hope they can beat their mark 2v1 (or 4v1 at times for Smith) and see if they can find some end product. All together this thing has been miserable to watch. If we even make it to the quarters I probably am not waking up at 3 in the morning to watch.

Per ESPN Stats & Information, the USWNT has struggled to string together passes at this World Cup. In 2015, the team averaged 4.57 sequences of 10-plus passes per 90 minutes. In 2019, its average was 9.14. At this World Cup? It's 2.00 so far.
Meanwhile, the number of 1-on-1s -- when players take on defenders alone, with the ball at their feet -- has skyrocketed. In 2015, the USWNT attempted 15.6 1-on-1s per 90 minutes. In 2019, it was 20.1. At this World Cup? It's 31.7 through three games.

Why do our players look miserable to even be out there?
Is it coaching? Do they not like playing for him?
I never seen a more miserable group in my life.

Many of them don't even care about what it means to represent the country. They hate the flag and what it stands for, yet they willfully play for the same country. They are true narcissists that are only in this for themselves and the attention they so desire.

So, half the starters?
Most of our starters have hands behind their backs and emotionless during the anthem.

That totally tracks given that the US has only scored four goals in the tournament so far.
